I lived in Vista West from August 2005 to May 08 and never had any problems whatsoever, although I haven't recieved my deposit back, I'm sure it's coming. I stayed in a 2 bedroom with a friend, and the place was huge! The master bedroom was rediculuous, it made my roomates twin bed look like cot set up in the corner. It was kinda expensive for me, but worth the money. Utilities seemed to run high in the winter. The heater runs off the hot water, so trying to take a hot shower with the heater on is difficult. The pool is great, but the patio furniture is so cushy that it will make you fall asleep and get sunburned. The gym was small, but the new equipment is very nice, and its never busy. The tenants aren't noisy, but some of the people in the houses up the ridge can be pretty loud till the wee hours. The managers will call the cops long before you do, though.
It was amazing that Alex would remember my roomate's and my name when I only saw him a few times a year. Tara and Debbie are very nice, and if you live towards the back, Tara's two cats will trot out to welcome you everyday when you get off work, then sleep on the warm hood of your car. If you pay your rent on time, don't trash the place, and don't have the maintenance guy over every day (he's usually there an hour after a work order), then the faculty are extremely nice, and honestly so.
If I didn't move back East, Ben and I probably would have lived there another three years.
