No real complaints from me

I moved to Reno in October of '06, and moved in to Wood Chase because it's within biking distance from work. The rent can vary from room to room because some are privately owned and managed by Rodaki Management Company. I got a second-story privately owned 1br/1ba room without a washer/dryer for $745/mo with 9mo minimum lease. Their website mentioned month to month leases available, but it many of the privately owned ones require a lease. It's almost time to renew my lease, and I'm not at all hesitant about it anymore.

Parking: I got an apartment bordering one of the parking lots so I park right in front of the steps to my apartment. Some of the inner apartments do have to park further from their front door. I don't think it would be a big deal for me if I lived on the other side of the building, but it's something to take into consideration when looking at which room you want.

Noise: I very very rarely hear my neighbors, and when I do it's generally them moving stuff around or an accidental slamming of a cabinet. I've not once had noise problems from voices, tv, or music. When I have the sliding glass door to the balcony open I can hear my downstairs neighbors talking if they're outside on theirs, but it's not intrusive at all.

Grounds: The grounds are beautiful. Nothing extra fancy, but the lawn is green and there are plenty of beautiful trees. There's a community barbecue area with picnic tables, a pool and hot tub, and basketball/tennis courts. There are on-site laundry rooms that are very inexpensive ($0.75 washer, $0.50 dryer) and in the past 7 months I've never had to wait for other people to finish their loads.

Safety: Mostly well-lit, there are a few places that could use another light... but at the same time it's nice not having bright lights outside your window at night. I've done laundry well after dark several times and have never once felt uneasy. I've never seen anyone looking suspicious, never anyone loitering around, not once heard a police siren.

Maintenance: The only experience I've had with maintenance was when my sink started leaking. I put in a work request on a Thursday afternoon, got a call on Friday and set up a time for them to fix it on Saturday. They replaced a plastic pipe that was cracked, and since the garbage disposal was old and starting to rust they brought a new one ahead and installed it. Nothing was charged to me for it either. Oh, I also went in about getting a spare key and they made me one in 10 minutes free of charge.

Staff: I've had very few problems living here so haven't had too much interaction with the staff. They were very friendly and helpful when I was asking questions before moving in, and the few times I've gone to the office (sink repair, spare key) they were just as friendly as before.

The only downside that comes to mind is the fact that there's only two phone jacks (one in the kitchen, one in the bedroom) and one cable jack (in the living room, none in the bedroom.) I ended up getting a splitter to run a cable into the bedroom.
