I was immediately impressed with the uniqueness of the complex in this area, and the architectural integrity of the buildings.

Part of the originality is the way the buildings are situated, and the landscape architecture, with many types of shrubs/trees - creating a serene courtyard setting which is very attractive.

This isn't your cookie cutter complex.

I was willing to pay a higher rent to live in the older buildings, without any modern amenities, because I value the history, and the buildings are beautiful.

However, over the last 5 years, my rent has steadily increased in leaps and bounds, while services have seriously declined.

Probably in an effort to save money, the management has done a good job of hiring incompetent people, who don't want to take responsibilty for anything, and who put in very little effort.

The people at the rental office don't want to deal with any complaints, simply saying they can't really do much about anything, and appearing annoyed with you at times.

The landscaping is attrocious - the lawn is completely burned out.

They have just recently taken away the convenience of having garbage facilities in the basement of each building, where as now the tenants have to bring their garbage to one main dumpster in the entire complex, located pretty far from most buildings.

The snow removal is ridiculous, with tenants, paying between $800 - $1000 and higher in rent, have to shovel their own walkways to get out the door and shovel paths to their cars because the management, again trying to penny pinch, has hired idiots to do the snow removal.

The buildings are still exquisite, and virtually soundproof.

I only hope what's left of the old school charm and integrity of Dutch Village will prove to outlast the management trying to run it into the ground like it's just any other apartment complex.

It's all about the almighty dollar to these people - Never mmind the good tenants they are ripping off.
