the complex has ALUMINUM wiring.Do some research on this type of wiring, ask if the aluminum wiring is updated and by whom, get renters insurance a good life insurance policy and make sure your smoke alarms work.

Regarding the cause of the fire at the complex last year, I was informed it was the wiring between the apartments.Note the photos pasted together from the Fuller rd Fire dept site. of the 4/30/07 fire at building 33 in which 2 apartments were completely destroyed

Since the wiring in my apartment has now become unsafe, at least I beleive it is unsafe, 3 outlets heat up, I will be moving. The electrician said he found a burnt wire in the wall, but still could not find the cause. Resolution= "We will let you out of your lease if you are not happy here."
They complained about it costing $100 for the electrician.Imagine that.

Hi, Thanks for your informative post. I was a resident here when 33 burned down. Now I am not sure if it is just gossip but I heard that the owners of Woodlake and the staff in the rental office refused to pay for any damages even though it was clearly a fault on their end. Is this accurate? Also, is this why i hear my neighbor downstairs and vice versa shutting the lights on and off? That is, is the noise from the light switches due to the wiring? Has anyone from April building 33 sued for compensantion of items? I am always sure where I rent that I always have a good insurance renters policy. I have never thought I needed to purchase a life insurance policy for living in an apartment. Can you tell me why you recommend this?

Hello. life insurance, I guess in the event you die in a fire here. I don't know about the corp. refusing to pay for damages, but I would bet it is true. The power goes out routinely, without explanation .They know I have been shutting off my power on both suspect circuits at nigth and when I leave the apartment and not only refuse to resolve the problem, of the hot outlets, but did not even offer a rental discount.I attained the report form the westmere fire dept whom I called on 4/16/08.One of the firemen was shocked and said "what have you been plugging into these outlets? I explained, I had just arrived home from work.In other words, nothing.Thermal imaging by the fire dept.revealed a temperature of 100 degrees in the outlets. My research on this wiring( cu/al) indicates it can withstand 60 or 80 degrees, depending on when it was wired, at least that is my understanding of what I have read. I am depressed about moving, as I really love the landscaping, the fountains at night and my apartment, but on the other hand, I haven't slept much since April, worrying about a fire. While my moving will solve Woodlake's problem, I also care about the other tenants safety. Seem this (Tri City Rentals) multi million dollar corporation could care less about the lives or the welfare of the tenants.
