Don't be fooled by the 5 star replies. the office staff creates a few user id's and submits reviews themselves. No joke, this place is really bad. ants, bugs, small rodents, peeling floors, you name it -- welcome to woodlake. oh and to add why did our rent go up $25 but i still have the same problems we all seem to be having with the electrical outlets. They have never been fixed. it is a HAZARD!
I know the previous poster said he/she was in building 59. A am a few buildings away. two seperate tenants in my cluster have taken pictures of various hazards, incomplete maintenance requests, and other issues here.
this FILTH we live in is uncalled for!we pay $850 for a tiny one bedroom with no utilities/no cable/no intenet, etc. included. We are shelling out over $1200 per month and what do we get' bad attitudes from the rental agents. creepy maintenance men who lurk around all day especially in the afternoons. i would NOT (as a poster previously said) be alone in my apartment with maintenance ever! Ask staff if the man with the record for burgularly is still on staff. Even the tenants have criminal records, Don't beleive me' Ask staff if they do pedophile criminal background checks. They don't do them!
Also, please read the other concerned residents post about the fire in building 33. The problem was on Woodlake's end. They DID NOT replace or reimburce a DIME for any tenant (i was here). Look closely upon moving in...You will see the disclosure about responsible parties and the urgency of the garbage complex to get renter's insurance. Also, I cannot stress the importance of ALWAYS being present whenever so-called repairs have been made to your apartment. Schedule a time and be there. It is worth waiting around for so you can see they don't repair a thing and there you are back at square one calling the rental office again.
FInally, the 5 stars this place has received are incredibly laughable. to the poster re: the goose poop...did you, like me, have to pay to have your car waxed a few times over at Hoffman's just to remove the poop' I sure did.
I would not recommend this place to anyone...not even my worst enemy. Please be wise and review all the information before signing anything. And please look at the picture that someone else posted of the fire and the continual electrical hazards.
Do you want your son, daughter, mother, father, sister, brother to die due to what was a known electrical problem' I didn't think so.

Well since your posting annoymously you must not live hear. As I said I have been hear now over 13 years. I have never had a problem with maintenance staff or the office staff. When ever I needed something done it has been taken care of that same day.
In most if not all complexes you do pay for your own utilities such as cable,National Grid, phone. Why should the complex pay.
As for the staff I have found them all to be courtouse and very pleasent.
You sound like a previous poster since your posting annoymously.
Be brave and post real.

Been here for two years. Total nightmare. Nice lake sceneray, lovely trees, everything else is awful. Cheap buildings have no firewalls and every sound penetrates the thin walls and floors. Every slammed door or cabinet is heard. Maintenance people always outside making a lot of noise, but it doesn't seem like they're actually doing anything. Women in the office are the worst. Terrible attitudes, no help at all. Bugs, spiderrs, flies. This place is filthy.

The goose poop is annoying, but that's the downside to having a lake I guess... the lake can smell a bit too sometimes in the summer... but the landscaping is beautiful. I live in one of the "in-between" courts so we don't have the dumpster issue, but even when dumping the trash, I haven't noticed a bad smell until you get right up to it (and then only when it's full and hot... and it's a dumpster... what d'ya expect?). I have no clue about the "fire hazard" issue, seems safe and secure to me. It's open, airy, w/ many possible exits, and we have a working fire alarm and extinguisher. The staff are great, and are only "loud" when doing "loud things" (like plowing snow... again, what d'ya expect). It's a bit pricey, but compared to what's out there, it's a great deal. Sounds like some "sour grapes" renters to me... everyone I know who lives(d) here, including my girlfriend and I have had a good experience.

you may want to conduct your own research on aluminum wiring which is what the apartments have.I am not a sour grape. I loved the design of the apartment and the complex as well as the pools, and believe me I would have stayed 10 years if the wiring was not so dangerous and had the place not deteriorated so much in terms of shoddy repairs and dumpsters that always seemed to be overflowing with garbage. There is an attorney who lives at Woodlake, who is the Albany prosecutor for code violations. His name is Brian. I had a number of coversations with him when Woodlake was refusing to properly repair the wiring in my apartment. He told me the fire 4/07 at bldg. 33 was attributed to faulty wiring in between the apartments of the unit. 8 apartments were affected . My concern as I was moving out, was that the next tenant might be elderly or have children and be hurt or killed in a fire. It was pretty bad with an arc shooting out from an outlet and 3 outlets that were always heating up with no appliances plugged in. A burnt wire was found in the wall behind one outlet. The "electrician" lied on his report, although I was right there along with maintenance when he found the burnt wire and he actually showed it to me, he wrote in his report "no problems found"" wiring meets National safety code". Woodlake knew in order to make my apartment safe, they would need to update all the wiring in the unit, so they offerred me an early out of my lease as a final solution. I had conducted extensive research on the wiring, and spoke to electricians who provided very useful information.Believe me the people posting negative comments are not 'sour grapes" they are trying to warn others of the dangers of this once beautiful , but now deteriorated and unsafe apartment complex.
