We have lived here for four years and it has had its ups and downs. Initially we were thrilled with the design of our townhome and the garage was the main reason we moved here. As time went on we noticed our brand new apartment developed significant cracks in the seams of the walls, the paint/blinds/finishings were pretty cheap and our beautiful apartment began to look less beautiful. As the manager agrees, the construction is poor and cheap even though they spent the money to put in Moen faucets'' We also realized that the "granite" counter tops, as advertised, were not granite, nor were there "tile" floors. They had advertised such ammenities to suck people in. We fell for it and while it's not a big issue, irritating that they would falsely advertise. This goes for the non-working "gated" community. I don't think the gates will ever work. I wish they would because some of the local area kids (non-residents) like to walk on in and loiter around.
Over time this place has surely declined, especially with the the quality of residents. There are also so many vacant apartments and people moving in for a few months and leaving. It's so transient here it makes me wonder what condition these apartments are in. I fear this place will go down fast if they can't keep residents and we will pay the price in rent= increases.
The property always looks nice and I find the maintainance to be quickly responsive and fairly effective, although the workmanship is sub par.
Parking is a complete nightmare, never enough spots for visitors and people with 3 cars and 3 motorcylces taking up all the spaces. Infuriating!
The rent is high, but not unusual for Long Island. I have good experiences with management although they can be hard to reach at times.
I would recommend this place, but keep in mind the honest things people are saying on this site. Almost everything I've read here is in fact true.

Thank you for your review. Although we disagree with you on most issues, these are your views and we respect that. I would like to address your issues individually: 1- Since our company took over on April 1st, 2005, we have not advertised "granite" countertops. Although we do not advertise "tile floors", even if we did, that would be okay. Tile floors can be vinyl tile, granite, ceramic, etc... What the prior company advertised, even if what you say is true, is surely not our doing. As far as a gated community, yes this is a gated community. It is unfortunate that some residents chose to destroy the gates beyond repair. We have spent nearly $60K to refurbish these gates and they will be up and running by mid September guaranteed. The unfortunate part is that then we will receive complaints that the gates are too slow, inconvenient, etc. But, unfortunately, that is part of property management...you can't make everybody happy. You should read what you wrote about "kids like to walk in and loiter" and maybe everyone will agree that you might have typed faster than you wanted to. If the gates were working, would these same kids say "oh the gates are closed, we cant go in". Or would they just walk around the gates? Think about it!!!!!!! 2- You say that the quality of residents has declined and there are so many vacant apartments. BOTH UNTRUE!!! Since we took over, we raised the income and credit qualifications, and our occupancy shot up from just over 80% to over 95%. This is do to the hard work of the entire staff at Atlantic Point and shame on you for saying that, but that's okay, your opinion. I gave the facts. Anybody can come to our office and ask to see the list of available units. You will see we have less than 4% remaining. Furthermore, these occupancy figures are well above the average for Long Island and we are proud of that. 3- As far as our maintenance team being "sub par", I would like those reading this review to read the other dozens of compliments and make up your own mind. 4- As far as parking, each resident is given a PRIVATE garage and driveway. Some driveways can fit 2-3 cars. If you used your garage, perhaps your guests would have room to park. FURTHERMORE, I would ask people reading this review to visit our property and see for themselves that we have more private and guest parking than any other community on Long Island. This is a fact and you can check building plans to properties at the Suffolk County Planning Department. 5- Management is NEVER hard to reach. I am the General Property Manager and have an office in the leasing office. My door is rarely closed and I welcome anyone to visit me anytime, no appointments necessary. You can also call me anytime at 631-205-1300, ask for Mark. If I am not available, please leave a message and I will call you back withing 24 hours. 6- For your last paragraph, this is where we agree. First, thank you for recommending this place and people should definitely keep in mind the honest things people say. Since we took over, we are proud to say that close to 90% of people recommend Atlantic Point on this site and others. That is an awesome stat and we are delighted. I would like to send a special "THANK YOU" to my staff, who are responsible for this statistic. |

To clarify my point about the gates....I have visited other gated apartment communities and they not only have working gates, but they also have a person at the gatehouse who visitors check in with. I see we have beautiful gatehouses, but no one there. IF someone were there perhaps some of the loitering could be avoided, and I could avoid some unwanted pop-ins from my in-laws! As I said, we've lived here for 4 years. None of these issues, obviously, are THAT awful, or we would have left by now. I still recommend these apartments. I do wonder, though, why the managers comments are so defensive and somewhat argumentative. People post on this site to provide prospective renters a first-hand OPINION from others who have rented here. Readers will make their own decisions. I encourage all prospective renters to come and see this place and chances are, they will rent because it shows very well.

I'm sorry that I came accross that way to you. You have to understand that some irate, disgruntled residents post the most innacurate nonsense on this site and this is very frustrating. I did not mean to come accross that way and really appreciated your recommendation. I was in "defensive" mode from other reviews I was answering and do apologize.
