I moved into Atlantic Point not long ago and as with every single other rental on Long Island, it has its good and its bad. After living in several differnt apartments on LI and researching/viewing close to 100, below is my opinion.

First off, for the type of apartments and community, the rent is WAY below the average on Long Island. It is $600-$1000 cheaper and most of the others a garage costs an additional $175. What this does, of course, is attract less than respectful tenants. But that is the price you pay for a cheap rent. (reason why I moved here is to save money)
Some tenants are quiet loud and bang all day and evening. But it is only by chance that you will end up next to a tenant like this. Unfortunately, I did.
It does have fewer amenities then the more expensive complexes but again that is to be expected. However, the construction is the same as everywhere else I have been and seen.
The lack of snow removal is a bit odd. Out of all that I looked at and lived in, they removed the snow up to your door - but it shouldn't stop anyone from moving in (I wouldn't think).
The community has more parking than any other community I viewed plus you have a garage and driveway. It is hard to imagne anyone complaining about this.
I lived in a gated community and I have to say , I hope they never fix the gates. It is more of a hassle than anything else and NEVER stops anyone from coming in.

Depending on what you prefer, you may or may not like it here. Here is a list of things renters might find important or might not:

1. Patio is very small and not very private
2. The inside floor plan is very nice
3. The cabinets are 12" deep instead of the newer 15" deep and there are few
4. There are spring/summer bugs but clearly due to the type of bushes and the ponds - pick a spot far away from trees and ponds if a problem
5. Attached garage and driveway at no additional cost
6. Utilities bills come out the same as with all other communities
7. Some of the neighbors are a bit loud and bang alot
8. The designer missed the mark with the way each apartment is attached to eachother
9. It is very cozy inside although less floor/wall/closet space then most
10. The study is a nice extra P0MtU6TIdDkM23RTonAS

Manager's Response

From: Manager Date: 09/19/2006
Thank you for your review. I must say, this is the most honest and fair review I have ever read. This reviewer, although I disagree with a few issues, had good intentions and is actually giving their honest review. Enen though some of the reviews are negative, we respect all HONEST reviews.

The only items I would like to clear up are:

1- The reviewer wrote we have fewer amenities than other complexes. Atlantic Point has 4 pools, a fitness center, tennis courts, a basketball court, guest suites, party room with large TV's and pool table (which you can rent), business center, media room, 17 beautiful ponds, patios (and you can bbq), etc. There is NO OTHER community on Long Island to offer as many communities.
2- Any noisy or disrespectful neighbors are dealt with swiftly and accordingly. The reviewer is asked to make a formal complaint and we will handle the problem immediately.

Other than that, we really appreciate this review and again ask prospective residents to see for themselves.

Just to be fully thorough for the possible renters...the amenities I was referring to are:
1. Security on grounds
2. Garbage pick up at your door when needed
3. Mail delivery to your door when needed
4. Lifetime membership to Golf course, tennis court, pools, fitness centers (don't pay each year)
5. Wireless Internet connection available free of charge along with business rooms, party rooms, etc.
6. Covered, private balconies or patios (on which you can BBQ)
7. Playgrounds and picnic areas equipt with BBQs and tables
8. Concierge service
9. Location, location, location
10. etc.
also, including those things you mentioned above which most luxury communities have.
However, again these complexes come at a much higher cost.
Tenants that are banging, for example, are simply living. Some people are loud and some are gentle. Some people bang a door closed and some don't. Complaining will do nothing as managment cannot stop someone from performing their daily life functions. It is one of the downfalls of apartment living (and even house living) and can happen anywhere, anytime regardless of the commuity or how much you pay. However, the better the community the better the tenants. That is all I am saying.
No remarks here were meant for management to "fix" anything as there is nothing here for mangement to fix..It is simply observation.
