I have rented a 3 bedroom apartment for me, my wife and my 2 kids. my son is now 18 and has a car. I just found out today that you cannot park in the parking lots for more then 3 days else be towed. this causes us a problem since we now have 3 cars but room for only 1 in the garage and 1 in the driveway. My wife parks in the garage and my son in the driveway.
I work nights so when I return in the early morning, most of the time the same spot that I left is the only one open. I confirmed with the office that they want us to move our cars around but I often do not have a choice so until we move, I guess I will have to park somewhere else and walk.
I cannot imagne that a place would rent 2 - 3 bedroom apartments and not expect that each adult may have a car.
The bottom line is this...
Do not rent here if there are more than 2 drivers in your family and have more than 2 cars as there is no place to park.

Dear resident: We are sorry that you feel this way. Our parking rules actually benefits you and other responsible residents. We applaude the fact that you use the garage. We wish more residents did as you do. The reality is, however, that some residents (or people they know) use these guest spots as car storage. We had countless cars towed that were not registered, missing plates, or simply have been parked in the same spot for months. Is this fair to you or any other resident? NO! That is why we have a very simple rule as it relates to parking. We simply ask that residents do not claim spots as their own other than their garage or driveway. We do not do things to hurt residents. We do things only to help people be as comfortable as possible during their stay here. If we did not manage or enforce guest spot parking, it is then you would have problems. We do not think that asking you to not leave your car in the same spot for more than 3 days is unreasonable. Furthermore, we even sticker cars as it relates to this situation, which is a curtousy warning, so you actually have 4 days. Again, we cant make everyone happy, however we are pleased to say that a majority of our residents appreciate our parking rules and enforcement. Furthermore, as our recent reviews illustrate, there are many people who are happy here and that is what matters to us the most. This is what we strive for daily...to make our residents happy and comfortable. Thank you for your review. In response to your second comment/review: 1- We can't make people use their driveway or garage, however we can easily enforce the guest parking as this is public parking. 2- Regardless of your personal feelings on the matter, we (a) know for a fact that most residents appreciate this rule (those that dont park for more than 3 days in the same spot and use the spot as car storage), and (b) it is a fact that we have more parking (both private and public) than any other apartment community on Long Island. This is a fact that can be easily investigated through local agencies should one want to go that far. Again, we are sorry that you are not happy with our rules and regulations, but we have to side with the majority on this matter and will not change these rules at this time. |

Thank you but just to be sure everyone looking for an apartment understands. 1. The majority of people that use the guest spots park their 2 cars that they use all the time in those spots 2. These same people use their garage for storage and park their less used car in the driveway 3. Of course they like this rule because the people that follow the previously outlined rules (use your garage, use your driveway) will not take up any of "their" spots. 4. It is time to wonder why this has so many reviews on it (the most in Brookhaven on this website. Maybe the majority of people are not happy and one should be reasonable. Perhaps rules like, you can only 2 cars for a 1 BR, 3 for a 2, and 4 for a 3 is abetter rules to have. Maybe parking permits for the use of the parking lot and everyone only gets one or two depending on the size of their apartment. There has to be a better way. |

I have to strongly disagree with the response from management. I would bet my life that the majority of the residents, including myself, have a problem with parking. I was actually thinking about starting a petition about this because of a recent incident. On superbowl sunday I had a couple of people over, as many residents did I'm sure, and there was 6 tow trucks swarming the complex and towed my guests car and in less than 30 seconds towed mine, and tried charging me $290.00. I live in a 3 bedroom apartment and the policy at Atlantic Point is 2 people per bedroom which means there may be up to 6 adults with cars in any given apartment. Let's say I use my garage and use my driveway (the 3 bdrm apts have a driveway that fits 1 car and the 1 & 2 bdrm apts. have double driveways, does that make sense to anyone) where am I supposed to put my other 4 cars? The 5 parking spots are ALWAYS occupied. Again I ask, Where do I park? Oh I know, by the community center on the total oppposite side of the complex and walk by myself, a 22 yr. old girl, in freezing weather right? I have lived here for going on 3 yrs. and I am happy with everything else other than this. I just wish they would do something about this and preferably get a reputable towing company also.
