If you don't mind living with...

a garage that could double as a swimming pool, windows that leak water, cold and hot air, front doors that let all outside environments inside your home (snow, rain, grass, leaves), improper installation of fireplaces, amenities that you pay for that don't work and repairs that could take up to 15 months to have repaired, then this is a great place to live. you can rest assured that this is a beautiful complex but not even close to how it used to be since new management/ownership took over 2 1/2 years ago. you must like brown grass, lights that don't work, flickering lights in your apartment, street lights and sprinklers that work when they want to and most importantly you need to like, want and accept lies from the office regarding any and everything. oh and let's not forget a safety issue...cars stuck in water are much more important than a fire alarm going off...be patient...someone will get to you as soon as they can. and you must also not take to seriously that a lot of transient people live here and don't care about the community nor the other residents. they use the place as a nascar race track, come close to running people and their pets over and there is nothing that management will do about it. and lastly, don't have company over. this is not that type of community and they will tell you so as they will have your companies car towed away if you park on the street and then will tell you that they have no control over it....but will leave out that they hired the tow company to do so''''' you figure it out...... on a positive note: the staff are nice and personable...but that's all they got. they are all coperate brainwashed and fogot what the right thing is.

Manager's Response |

| Usually I respond to all reviews, good or bad, however I really cant respond to these because it is obvious that these 2 residents (if not the same person) was just unhappy and there is nothing we could have done to make them stay. We do have problems here like anywhere else, however most peopole are smart enough to realize that most of these claims are false. I do want to make one thing clear however. The second review on this page made a statement of how they "love" the newsletter they receive telling people when rent is due. The reason we send this reminder is many people who are new do not know who to make the check to or what the deadline is for the rent before receiving a $75 late fee. We do this as a curtousy to them. Shame on you for even trying to take this route on this site. Again, we know that most people are smart enough to laugh off these silly complaints and chaulk it up to disgruntled remarks. 9/5 - As the manager, I woulk like to request that people stop making foolish remarks regarding complaining residents. These residents who complain, although we disagree with some, have a right to complain and state their opinions. It is just that...opinion. Most people enjoy living here, and we invite prospects to knock on a few doors. Although we appreciate your support and are glad that you like living here, we respectfully ask that you not make such comments, and especially do not use anyone's names. To Mike...we wish you the best and have no hard feelings. Although you did not enjoy your stay here, we did our best and sincerely wish you the best of luck. | |

I would like to add to this review...as I have also been a resident here for 3 years. First off,it is a beautiful place. How ever because of how poorly these buildings were built...and by the way I am sure the inspections were done under the table while for sure looking the other way. There is definitely many issues with the following.
Numerous drafts from doors, fireplace, windows which really put a strain on your utility bills.
Spaces and cracks in the foundations, leaving it accessible to mice, bugs, and worms, and also rain water..which creates a problem for mold and can be a serious health problem, and will continue to get worse as the buildings age and continue to settle.
Our garage gets flooded with water when it rains.
Also when the weather is warm and alot of the tenants are using the air conditioners, the transformers were literally exploding out of the ground during the summer of 2006, the fire department was here every day, until they had to tell the manager this has to end. Altantic point had to have Lipa come in and change all these transformers, as they were not powerful enough for the usage...another cut back in the building of this developement.
There is no place to park for our company, and they have a tow company that tries to make deals with you to not tow you away ex. $50.00 and he won't tow it, the guy tries to play lets make a deal.
Also Atlantic point advertises as a gated community. The gates were broken more then they worked, and the company spends an enormous amount of time fixing them continually.
The landscaping is as well very poor. There are consistant problems with the sprinkler system, and it has caused the grass to die in numerous areas of the complex. When we moved here and the complex was owned by Alexan and the grounds were beautiful. Since Atlantic point took over and hired a company by the name of Brickmans, the grass turned brown ,alot of trees and shrubery died as well. Such a shame. But I will say the areas around the main office are kept quite impecable. What does that tell you future dwellers of Atlantic point??
One more thing that never made any sense is they built security boothes but never put any plumbing in them to place security personnel in them. And the sad part is that they could still do this, rather then spending thousands of dollars on fixing broken gates that are either run through by cars or just don't work electronically.
And last but not least we have a pond view that we pay $25.00 extra for..this whole summer we looked at a dark pond at night..the light broke and we asked to have it fixed many times...they never came to fix it..and now we are moving.
I would just like to end this by saying I really put the blame on the owner of all this mess. I just love these corporations that purchase these places and just want to put the money in their pockets...and spend the least amount of money fixing whats broke...in the end they spend more time refixing it over and over. Unfortunately the tennant who signs a contract (lease) with the company has to abide by it but when it comes to the GREAT CORPORATION they don't have to fulfill their end.
I love the news letters we get...It alwyas tells you when the rent is due...I am sure everyone knows to pay the rent, and if they don't who is the fool for letting that kind in? We have made alot of nice memories here in the past three years, and now its time to go.
Good luck..I hate to think what this place will look like in a few years.

-------------, stop your moaning and groaning. All of your neighbors, and I'm sure the management as well, are delighted that you are leaving. You were a pain in the you know what to everyone and we will have a huge party when you are actually gone. We are praying that your closing goes well so that you can actually move.

Perspective tenents should look at ALL reviews and take about 1/2 of them as true. That includes the management ones. This place does have some important problems that you may not want to overlook but it also has some good points. No it is not like every other place and as soon as you hear managment or anyone say that "its the same as everywhere else" you know you shouldn't move in. Most other places strive to be better than average and not have those problems. For example I never had an apartment with a rodent problem but I also never payed less than $2000 for a townhouse.
I could name a few better apartments but you will find them on your own I am sure because they are obvious when you visit. However, perspective tenants also have to keep in mind that this is NY and it is LI and the price is cheap here so be logical - you WILL get what you pay for.
If you want true luxury, there are many places on LI that are much, much better BUT they cost more. obviously.
Oh and BTW...the same person cannot write two reviews, the website stops you from doing so unless you have a unending supply of valid email addresses.
Generally speaking, the ratings themselves all even out...You will have people give inaccurate goods reviews and people give inaccurate bad reviews so just look at the recommended by % that will be pretty accurate. suggest you find an apratment that is either NOT reviewed at all or has at least 10 reviews with a % of at least 75.

Let me start with saying, I am-------------, and I do not appreciate/approve of my name being used on the Internet or anywhere for that matter without my consent. At least I am not a coward and use a person???s name with just assumptions of who wrote or said something. I am also man enough to sign my name when I have something to say and will say it to whomever???s face as I have done in my almost 3 years at Alexan/Atlantic Point. This was a terrible way to end a wonderful weekend. Having one of the many neighbors who will not be happy to see me leave came and told me about this site and about my name being used.
Now to the facts:
Thanks to one of the many neighbors of mine, I have learned of this site as my name was mentioned and they informed me of it, and I feel very compelled to write on this site as well; something I would never have thought to do.
I will be missed by many as I do for my neighbors what Alexan used to do that Atlantic Point no longer does for it???s residents. I am always there to assist, help or advise them???ALWAYS!! As for the manager???s comments, I agree with the newsletter but I do feel it could be more informative. Other than that, I like it and read it each time it is received. As for the second anonymous author, I commend you on your knowledge of apartments and the way this site works. As for the original author who obviously has left this complex (hence their name; ???glad to have left???), and the first responder (obviously another; as it was referred to; transient (hence the name ???passing through???), I couldn???t agree more with what they had to say. I can attest to a lot of their complaints. Yes, I agree with the manager that all places have their share of problems. What I find hard to understand is why not address them rather than have the office tell people all different stories as to why things aren???t fixed, working or better yet, why would they rather try doctoring things up rather than fix them the correct way from the beginning. In the end, they spend more time and money than if they just did it right the first time. And yes I have said this to the manager/office many times as I have with any and all of my concerns/complaints. And let me also say, IN PERSON, FACE TO FACE!!!
As for the other 2 responses, they are not even worth discussing. They are cowards and childish. And personally from what the coward has to say, my honest opinion is that it is someone in the office, as they only know half the story about my moving in the near future. My neighbors only found out recently that I am looking for a home and only a few know my current status which I have not discussed with the office as of yet but will be shortly.
Lastly I would also agree with the original author that the staff is nice and friendly and I have no complaints with them other than the fact that they are grossly understaffed. There is 1 very knowledgeable supervisor and 3 maintenance men to handle over 800 apartments. This is not fair to them or to the residence of this complex. I have shown my appreciation to them by having holiday and no reason summer lunches for them, as they are not allowed to accept monetary rewards.
In closing I would not recommend or not recommend this complex to anyone. I would leave it to their own judgment. This complex is a beautiful place and has a tremendous potential of being called a home. Just needs a few corrections in the way things are handled.
Thank you

wwaaaaaa, oh people stop your whining, nobody told you people to stay if you don't like it here pack up and move. As far as the problems, yes there are some, but name a place where there are no problems. There are ups and downs with every place If you rent or OWN. as far as the ac and the transformers go, yes they got overloaded and most of them exploded, but what the last responder forgot to add was that they were ALL replaced with-in a week and haven't had a problem since. Overall this is a great place to live and afordable and the rent dosen't go up every year. I would also like to add that the maintenance crew has a great response time,oh and by the way of course this guy mayormike agree's with the first 2 reviews cause he wrote them
