Honest review from current resident

My family has been here several months now and I give high marks to Atlantic Point overall. The staff members from the office to maintenance are friendly and professional.
The apartments are spacious, with beautiful layouts and very quiet. The appliances work well, dishwasher works very well compared to most cheap units in other apartments. One surprise was the lack of an over the counter microwave, or any microwave at all. For a "luxury" complex that was disappointing. Washer and Dryer are excellent Whirlpool commercial models. Heat, cooking and hot water are gas. The heating bills are a bit higher than expected as there are drafts from poorly sealed doors and windows. A few times ants have paid a visit, but the staff does quickly send the exterminator. The ponds and fountains are beautiful, especially at night. And the ducks, geese and other wildlife who share them make living here more enjoyable. Overall, its inviting and beautiful to live here.
The main clubhouse is very nice, well kept. The gym is sometimes crowded and the machines are out of order upon occasion. There are rumors that the machines were going to be replaced soon and the old ones moved into one of the remote clubhouses in the complex. That would be nice.
Security here is ok. Alarm systems are optional in units. It is a gated community with restricted access after 8 PM. This sounds good but quite often the gate systems are not functioning. Either one of the gates have been run thru, or they just stay open too often when not supposed to. This is probably the main issue I have with the complex, why the gates cant be kept in working order. Another issue with the gates is having non-residents "sneak" in behind you when you open them. An easy way to eliminate that would be to put an extra arm across the non-resident side of the entrances to ensure guests have the proper clearance to come in.
There are problems anywhere you live and I owned a private home for 18 years before coming here. Atlantic Point has met and exceeded my expectations for a complex of this type. I believe its the best value on Long Island. My family loves it here and we plan on staying for quite awhile.

As far as your concerns...1] I cant answer why microwaves were not put in, however we will be upgrading some units and will definitely be installing them in these units. 2] The gates have been a major headache, however we have finally made the woodside gate system tailgate proof. We are now working to do the same on the horseblock side. | |
