The complex is so big that it is almost like a town. Some streets/building are good and some are not so good so it is a bit rude of some of the reviewers on here to try to dismiss people's opinions since they have no idea what building they live in.
Why I moved in and stay:
Regardless of what you might see here or even on other complexes. If you can find a 2 BR townhouse style apartment for under $2500 you are lucky. The securty was very inexpensive. I have a home office which I love. I really cannot go through the expense or stress of moving again.
What I would like to see improved:
Have to say the biggest complaint is some of the neighbors. There are those who think you shouldn't complain about anything although you pay for it and they are the ones that are loud, bang on walls, slam doors, fix their cars in their driveway, park 3 cars in the guest spots, have bad kids, and think their apartment is a house so all they do is disturb others and ruin it for the good tenants. Sometimes it is a bit unbearable and you do expect more in an apartment community else just live in a house that is not part of a community with rules that you pay for.
Although I have not lived here very long and I do not think the apartments are that old, the appliances are kind of shot. they work but are kind of lousy. (squeaky, rusty, inefficient, etc.) Been in a few apartments and I do have to say these appliances kind of stink.
I do not use any, none, nada of the amenities yet I have to pay that fee each year so that kind of stinks too.
The constant disturbance from the property to the customers is a little stinky too. Instead of waiting for people to move out before doing things.
BUT...The only thing that at least twice a year makes me start looking again is the spiders. There are so many of them. Never had so many spiders in my house nor in any of the other 3 apartments I lived in.
Some other things (they don't bother me so much but might someone else):
I did check with an environmental company that tested the apartment (unfortunatley after I moved in) and there is indeed a potential for mold. He said that can be the case with a body of water so close and poor insullation under the aluminum siding. The pond creates humitity which raise the moisture level. So I guess the people that said they had mold or moisture problems probably weren't lying.
There are ants at the front and back doors (no where near food) and unfortuantely exterminating is not an option with anyone with allergies or pets regardless of what anyone tells you. (I lost loved ones from this and now have compromised health myself due to "safe" pest exterminating.)I just kill them and clean the area by the doors with bleach every other day. no big deal for me since they are not near food.
I did have a mouse about a month after I moved in. (no I dont keep crap in the garage - I actually use mine for a car - imagine that). Maintenace said it must have run in behind me so did nothing. However, I knew it came from the behind the dishwasher but they said no. The cats got the first one and the second one that tried to get in couldn't because I personnaly plugged up the holes maintenance said weren't there. Now it is not a problem I just hear them once and a while when it is cold out behind there but they just leave. I guess my neighbor has them now.
I hear people asking and complianing about KeySpan and LIPA costs. all I can say is mine has been the same (outside of utility co raising the rates) in every apartment I have lived in including this one except for the one that included heat.
Coming from a horticulture background, I have to say the landscapers are not so good but, not horrible just not so good. Hope they are cheap.
However, all and all I would give it a 75% rating. But if the rent ever went up, I would definatly leave. Unfortunatly, though they only give you a choice here to recommend or not so since I don't personally know anyone who wouldn't/couldn't pay more for something better, I have no choice but to pick not recommend. But if you need a nice place and are on a tight budget (need something under $2000) and don't mind the disturbances then this is a good place for you. See ratings for each category.

| To the reviewer: As far as neighbors, we have 2000 people living here. Obviously some are more respectful then others. In apartment complexes, neighbor issues are going to happen, but if you have an issue with someone, write us a letter and we will deal with them as we do whenever someone complains in writing. The appliances we use are whirlpool appliances and are very good quality. If you have an issue with one of your appliances, let us know and we will help you out. Insects are common ANYWHERE, however we have exterminator service twice per week, just give us a call. As well, potential for mold exists everywhere, however we handle water issues immediately. If you have water damamge, you as the resident is obligated to advise us of the situation as per the lease agreement. Our landscapers are The Brickman Group. They are a national company and do an incredible job...just drive around and have a look for yourself. Lastly, if there is "something better", please let us know and point them out so that we may review their history on this website. To Liracer...you lived here when it was called "alexan" and are still checking the reviews and writing negative comments?...no comment! To Swonderful...we have over 2000 people that live here so we do have some police activity, however the best thing to do would be to contact the 5th precinct at 631-854-8500 and ask them for statistics on this complex. Im sure you will be pleasantly surprised. to done4ever...lol and thank you, although you are 100% correct. | |

These units were built in 2001 - 2002. I was one of the first to move into Yarrow Circle. I tried to tell them then Mold was an issue. The units were not built with proper land drainage. I had water spouts almost 1' high in my kitchen when it rained. I tore up my carpet in the winter and showed them a sheet of ice under it. Water comes up thru the cracks of the foundation and flows under the carpets. Some units had 2nd floor pipes burst in the winter because of the lack of insulation in the garage. Spiders are there because they have tons of Mosquitoes to eat that come from all the stagnant water. Mice and rats come from the huge Brookhaven landfill that is directly across the street. In the summer when the wind blows South to North you know your up wind from it. It was called Alexan back then and I stayed 1 year and found a small, 1200 sq ft, home to rent in Yaphank for less money each month. I was paying 1800 a month for 2 br with a loft. I also had a dog. They even towed my car from my driveway for no plates the day I moved in. I was a car dealer and I would remove the magnetic plate at night and toss it on the front floor of the car. I can think of many nicer places then Alantic Point (Alexan Brookhaven, as it was called)
