Here is my issue. Me n my boyfriend have been living here since Last May,we love it but to a certain point. Alot of the problems people have wrote about..I have had to deal with. BUT My problem is we have been looking at other complexes and this one really is much nicer than most of the ones in suffolk. I would like to save some money and go somewhere a little cheaper but nothing really compares to here. Now we are living in the 1 bedroom, two level. I was thinking maybe trying the 1 bedroom 1 level which looks cute but I feel that the utilities here are alot. I just recieve a national grid bill that was crazy high and when I spoke with them the response was ridiculous. has anyone lived in both and can tell me if their electric bill went down a good amount'' I dont know what to do. Can anyone tell me if they think there will be a major difference in my bills' I would have to say that this complex is a nice place to live, I have read reviews on other APT COMPLEXES and they are 10 times worse than the reviews on Atlantic Point.Another question, I read a review that stated upon leaving they were charged for the apartment not being in good condition, now does that get taken out of the securuty deposit'' or is it a whole other charge bc that would be crazy if they didnt take it from security.

Manager's Response

Thank you to the person who wrote the review and those that responded. This is what this site was intended for and it is a pleasure to respond to real issues/complaints and it is nice to see others respond as well. In terms of the damages that we charge you for, this is what we look for. 1- Stained/dirty carpet 2- Broken windows 3- Broken cabinets 4- Colored paint on walls 5- Dirty appliances If you dont have any of the above issues, you will not be charged anything. If you do have any of these issues, the charges get taken out of your security deposit. Unless the damages are more than your security deposit, you will not be responsible for future charges/payments. In regards to the last reviewer/responder, you mentioned that it seems we have "given up...not too many activities and the gates are still a problem". I would like for you to elaborate if possible but here is my initial response: Activities - We offer an enormous amount of activities for our residents. We have poker, bingo and other activities. We also offer Zumba classes twice weekly and a free personal trainer. You will not get this kind of service anywhere else. Gates - We have not had any complaints for over 6 months now. The gates seem to be working fine. When they do fail, they are repaired within hours of the problem being reported to us. In regards to the last comment about the trainer not being free, he actually is when he is working here on our time. If you want him here during other times, you obviously will have to pay. Sorry if you misunderstood.

My last gas bill was over $400. We have the big unit with 3 bedrooms 2 bath on one level. But its crazy, my house never cost that much to heat. The temps have been cold for sure. But the high ceilings and poor insulation, drafts, all make for big bills. But its still the best complex in Suffolk and sometimes you just need to pay for what you get.

There are 2 things to concern yourself with with utilites - usage: (lots of use of washer/cooking, high avg. temperature you keep apartment); and the generally poor construction of some AP apartments. I have a 2br 2 level - With Balanced billing - my gas bill and electric is $125 each per month. I came from a 3br house rental where I paid $2200 mo rent, Oil heat (during heating season lasting 6 mos) cost about $800 mo avg in 2007. and Electric was $175-225/mo. Keep in mind I operate a home based business. Go back and read the rental agreement regarding fees charged for definition of "good condition" and be sure you do what maintenance they stipulate. They will offer spackle and touchup paint if you want it, so clean apt thoroughly, fix holes in walls, touch up blemishes in paint and you should be fine. Otherwise they would be in their rights to subtract a penalty from your security deposit; but I can't imagine them suing you to recover anything beyond that unless you really screw them. Good luck.

To the Manager: I have been living in Atlantic Point for about a month now and LOVE IT so far. However, I have not seen the gate on the Horseblock Road side functioning yet. Also, no notice about bingo or poker!

Activities: -the personal trainer is NOT free, he's awesome, but not free. he's there to supervise the gym but won't train anyone for free. So that's a stretch. It's great to hear there are activities, but the first year we were here we'd hear of them, but in the last past year we haven't heard anything of the poker/bingo games or other activities. I know there used to have eater egg hunts, parties, flower contests, etc.. .and if you still do, just let us know. I go to the club house very often, haven't seen any adds about them. (besides he zumba a few times)

I have lived here for over a year now. Last year there were activities every month. This year there has not been ANY activities! I was told the budget has been cut for this year, but its strange because my rent has not decreased?! Its very disappointing.
