Think twice about this investment!

I have lived in Co-op City since 1987. During this time, I have seen the place go from very good, to pretty bad now. There was a time when we would have our hallways and doors to our apartments painted at least annually. I have not seen this done for several years now. In fact they started to paint the hallways over a year ago and abruptly stopped, leaving them two toned in many cases. The parking situation is horrible. Yes, the board and elected officials have reached out to the City for help. However, the fact is that the garages should never have gotten so bad in the first place. If you think about it there are roughly 1400 parking spaces per garage, with each person paying $46 per month in parking fees, and about 150 to 200 of those spaces are allocated to reserved parking, at $70 per month. Where did the money go' Obviously not to maintain the garages! Now we are hearing that Riverbay is in arrears on rent payments to the State. How is this possible' Everyone pays there monthly maintenance fee and if you don't they'll move to evict you. So how is it that Riverbay has allowed this once decent community be flushed down the tube. There needs to be a criminal investigation by the State Attorney General into the finances of this corporation. In the meantime, if I were you, I'd think twice about moving into a community on the verge of collapse.
