A few years ago, I added Jamie Towers (JT) to this listing and wrote the 1st review for Jamie Towers.

For some reason it no longer appears, however I've been stopping in on this site now and then.

JT is a very, very comfortable place to live.

Yes, the projects are nearby (this is the Bronx, there are pj's all around) - yes, the pool has been inoperable for years, (did you see the begninng of construction') As long as people walk their dogs and comply with the pooper scooper law - no problem.

Yes, you have to walk about 2-3 blocks to a store, but would you want to have a 24/7 bodega right downstairs with riff-raff of all around standing all around''' Nope, not me!! Managament tries it's best to accomodate with updates about the happenings, but there are those that are just complainers ...

about everything....

and they will never be happy.

We have raised our children here and for the most part this coop has very much been a positive influence on the kids raised here.

There's been a lot of changes for the better here at JT and I think those that are unhappy better look at the economy and compare what's out there and re-think a thing or two about what to expect out there.

Well, I'll be back to check out more comments, but 'till then, JT Keep Your Head UP!

Jamie Towers is undergoing capital improvements and there are many problems. The terraces were renovated, including the terrace glass, and before all the terrace work was completed terrace panel glass had fallen out. The Board of Directors is not in control. The Management Company is not hands on. The 450 residents (out of 618) signed a letter in August 2009 asking the NYS Division of Housing & Community Renewal (DHCR) to remove the Board of Directors, dismiss the management company & have a foresnic audit of Jamie's financial records be done immediately. When cooperators transfer to another apartment in the complex, they are charged thousands of dollars although they have fixed up the apartment before they move. When residents move out, they do not receive their equity, instead it is used to restore the apartment. The incoming cooperators have detailed that their units have not been completely renovated including old rusted toilets not being replaced; kitchen cabinets not sanded or varnished; missing tiles in the bathroom. Although the equity amounts were tripled in 2007, that is for new, incoming residents. Those who already live there were supposed to be charged at the old rate. They are charged the newer rate. It has reached the level of the Governor's office, the Bronx Borough President's office, the City Council, State Senate and Assembly representatives. The media has been alerted. It is quite a problem. Jamie Towers could be the jewel of the Bronx, but until the Board of Directors is replaced (it has refused to recognize the elections for 2007, 2008 and 2009, and remain seated; they voted for a third increase in monthly maintenance since 2004). Shareholders are being harassed-given housing court summones on unsubstantiated claims; cooperators who have raised the alarm are constantly watched and their characters attacked by the sitting Board members and their supporters. Just be aware. There are serious problems, and once persons move in and realize that all the promises made by the management site staff will not be kept, become very angry. Requests to the Board of Directors are ignored. The Board of Directors since the current President assumed office has never held a meeting with the shareholders, despite repeated requests for information from the cooperators.
