Not So Bad; But Needs Improvement

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2004
I moved into Parkchester in the summer of 2003. When the apartments were already renovated. I wish I was the resident in my apartment when it was renovated. I can tell the person didn't oversee what was done but whatever needed to be repaired got done in a timely fashion. After living with my parents for most of my life, finding affordable rent is close to impossible for no to little space I must say the rent is reasonable but YOU can make a difference. I've read a lot the complaints people have from the website; I laughed at some and agreed with some. I have a problem with a noisy neighbor too! I believe he's the noisest person in NYC. I've spoken to him several times but his indignent attitude caused me to keep track of incidents and report them to security/management. However I must say that when I mentioned to him that his apartment should be, at least, 80% carpeted, his disposition changed. I HEARD some improvement but I can't say that I can read or watch TV in peace. My only other complaint is the cleaniness of the elevators. I must say that when I reported a neighbor for having a dog; security was right on the problem and my neighbor had to get rid of the dog. I'm sorry to read that some people dislike Parkchester for many reasons, but you will never find any place more perfect than you living in a single family home. This is what you will get when someone else oversees your security and surrounding cleansiness.
The North is very different from the South. There are always sacrifices one make to live where they want/not want to. If we as neighbors see a problem and speak to management conjunctly, then you can at least say I tried to make a change. If you don't say or do something, you shouldn't tell anyone about your complaints.
I've never experienced the rudness or cluelessness of the management or maintenance staff. I do like that I can take a walk after work to the grocery or department store and outside of my building I can exercise. I'm a block and half from the two stations. Again, I guess it depends on which section you're at. Parking, let's not talk about that but I have no complaints. Everywhere I go in one of the 5 boroughs I experience parking difficulties.
Do you want to move here' Get your mounts of paperwork ready, move in w/an air conditioner and have a down comforter handy. Bottom line, do your homework before moving in. Don't allow someone else unhappiness stop Parkchester from being a place you might enjoy living at.
