I have lived in Parkchester for the past 4 years. I moved to the Bronx after 7 years of living in NJ. My wife and I just took the first place we could find at the time.

I have to say this. I notice in the postings it looks like section 8 people vs non section 8 people. I dont get section 8. Section 8 does contribute to the downfall of many communities everyplace.

The idea of somone "getting over" when I have to pay full fare makes me very angry. People should live where they can afford to live. If you need section 8 then that means you can afford to live there. No free lunch

That is all I have to say. We need to build more projects to put these people in so the wont have to live next to me.

I disagree with your comment about section 8 people. Section 8 is not just for welfare recipients and other rude, obnoxious people. There are some decent people who are on section 8 just like their are people who work that let their kids tear up the place. What they need to do is do a thorough background check on how someone was at their last residence, hell even criminal checks on all tenant and occupants 15 years and older. Make security secure more than just the property. I used to live in parkchester but moved to Maryland. Let me tell you, they have some nice apartment communities that accept section 8 and they are not rundown and crime-ridden.

Let me tell you something OK everybody on section 8 is not bad and its people like you that make it hard for people on section 8 to get a nice place to live I have section 8 and I get up everyday to take my son to school and go to work in the city and I have a very good job but the prices are so high in new york that they make it very hard for a working single mother to survive in new york so I am greatful to have section 8 to help me and my son have a place to live. As for you A--Hole if you dont like it move to long island or some where because this is the bronx and parkchester is a very good place to live when your in the bronx. So its maybe you who should go jerk.

While we should never stereotype all section 8 recipients as being irresponsible and/or having a lack of values, many long time residents allege that Parkchester has deteriorated significantly since the arrival of these individual. Having lived in this community for 18 years, I don't believe this assessment to be fair. I believe Parkchester has been disintegrating over the years prior to the Management accepting Section 8. Who do we blame for this?

Its funny that we still have ignorant people living within our communities at this day and age. Ignorance is bliss and Ignorance stems from nkt understanding, not possessing the knowledge or the facts. I was the product of a Section 8 rec. who am now a Teacher and am grateful to have had that assistance for my mother as I was growing up. She is a single mother who did her damnest to support me and was barely making it but I would Never know that because she did not project that to me. Ignorance is like Discrimination and it saddens me to think that people still do that in this day and age. My mother can not work now becuase she adopted a child who has had 3 open heart surgeries, does this make her low life- in my opinion tis makes her better than you sir will ever be in your life and/or in this lifetime. She didnt have to adopt him but she did and he wasnt some child known he was a product of te CS system and given to my mother as a foster child. My mother thence has taken 2 more children and adopted and this does NOT lessen who she is or how she is as a person because she has section 8. This hasnt made her into a destructive person. You my sir need a quick wake up call and I hope that others do not replica your feelings because that will be a very disheartening day for those who try to make it better for others in the process.

I DISAGREE WITH YOUR COMMENTS I HAVE A SECTION 8 VOUCHER I WORK AND HAVE THREE COLLEGE DEGREES I AM A SINGLE MOTHER AND WOULD LIKE AN OPPORTUNTIY TO MAKE MY DEGREES WORK HOWEVER I AM WORKING PART-TIME WITH NO HEALTH BENEFITS I AM VERY GRATEFUL FOR THE VOUCHER AND MY CHILD IS COLLEGE BOUND NOT EVERYONE IS DISGUSTING AND UNAPPRECIATIVE OF THEIR GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE.

Obviously, comparable to sec 8 recipients...you probably came from a run down area of nj ..and you should go back!..most ppl use section 8 to better their situations and u r no better than "those ppl" u refer 2
