1 Year Later....

I wrote a review about Parkchester about a year ago after I had recently moved in. Back then I would have definitely HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Parkchester. However after one year of living here, getting to know people and the general area, I feel that my rating is more accurate now and sadly I have to downgrade my recommendation to: RECOMMENDED WITH RESERVE. Below are my reasons.

1. I agree with the other reviewers who felt the quality of tenant is declining. Over the past year I have witnessed TOO MANY altercations. I saw a 14 year old girl and her girlfriends assualt a mother, right in front of my eyes. I heard a gunshot at the corner one night. I saw at 3:00 AM on a Tuesday night a man and woman go at it verbally and physically. I've seen a LARGE group of kids on several occasion pass by the apartment being loud and causing mischief. Scary.

2. The layout of the apartment, especially the kitchens are absolutely ridiculous! The doorway to get into the kitchen is so narrow that you can only get the smallest of fridges in there unless you redo the doorway and that is too much of a hassle. And the standard fridges that come with the apartment may be OK for a single guy but not when you have a family.

3. There are NO top supermarkets in the neighborhood. Only C-Town, Met and Foodtown which are second rate supermarkets. No wholefoods, no organic stores, no international spices. I have to go to Union Square when I want quality groceries.

4. The maintenance staff has been slacking as of recently. This is the second time the bulbs on the floor have blown and they replace them at their leisure although I see them on the floor EVERYDAY and they know the bulbs are blown.

5. No pets allowed doesn't mean no pets allowed! There is a lady on my floor with a little dog that used to constantly pee in the stairwell and she would leave it there. How gross is that'''''''''''''' Low class, just plain low class.

I am thinking about moving my wife and I to Lenox Terrace in Harlem where you can get a 1 bedroom with 850 square feet for only $1450 a month, doorman, terraces, 24 hour security and a better class of hard working people.

If you can afford it then look elsewhere. If not then try your absolute best to move into SOUTH Condo because even though I live in South condo, nothing is worse than North condo- believe me.

I hope this review helped!
God Bless
