My familiy moved to Parkchester in the early 1970's.

What a joy it was to live there.

There were clean buildings, safe parks and a community that was proud to live there.
We moved out in 1998 and when I visit my family who still lives there I just shake my head.

Loud music, cars illegally parked, children running around unsupervised all hours of the night, poor supermarkets, urine stained hallways and staircases, and poor building conditions.

It has turned into a housing project.

I feel sorry for the people who are stuck there.
