HONESTLY! I've never lived or been to NYC nor PARKCHESTER but I did read the reviews and I had second thoughts about even looking at the building. (but) I've asked a few friends and they told me that Parkchester is not as bad as the people are writing the reviews making it seem. A few of them told me that parkchester is the nicest area located in the bronx. I am moving to NYC next summer in JULY and I was searching for something affordable and Parkchester came up. As I said before I never been to NYC nor have I saw Parkchester so I don't know how it is but I will say this to the people who are looking into parkchester. Don't go by others judgement. (and) Also do as another reviwer said and drive around the place at night to see how it really is but I would say this if Parkchester is a Public Housing Developement I will NOT be moving into it.

there are nicer places in the bronx trust me you do not want to move here! I know of New York city public housing developments that are way better than Parkchester try places further north of the bronx the higher the zipcode the better the location for example parkchester zip is 10462 try to get into the 10475 areas going toward woodlawn and Yonkers.

There are nicer places in the Bronx but I would say that Parkchester is not worse than projects. I have been here for 6 years as a renter. I have also been to visit when I was a child. Yes, it has changed, a lot more minorities than there was years ago but it's not the projects. The buildings look the same for the most part from the outside but are different levels. I must say that I don't leave in a bad building and haven't seen or had some of the problems that some of these posters are putting on this site(lucky me I guess). I have never lived in the projects so if parkchester was like the projects I wouldn't be there right now. I am looking to move for several reasons, mostly personal. But the prices are right compared to certain areas of the Bronx. But everyone has to make their own judgement but the south it much better even for parking. For those who are unhappy, just move.

This is my third year living in Parkchester next to Macy's and I love this place. Nothing like people told me was yeeears ago. Parkchester now is private is not a public housing anymore. 24 hours police around the streets. I will move 2 or 3 years later to Pensilvania but not because Parkchester is bad. Family from PR came to visit me and they like it! If somebody want a better place to live, then move outsite NYC.

"a lot more minorities than there was years ago but it's not the projects"...um excuse me, do "minorities" = projects to you folks. A bit ignorant, no? Then you need to leave NYC, a place built on the backs of ???minorities???, at least at one time or another, and yeah Irish and Italians were once considered ???minorities??? here too, let us not forget the old Hell???s Kitchen and the Irish Westies, gangs. No one wanted to go to Hells Kitchen day or night when I was growing up. Go educate yourself.
