Parkchester

Do not fall for the real estate hype boosting Parkchester, it is not all roses.

A lot of people are trying to currently push Parkchester at YOUR expense.

First off all the areas around the complex are far from the greatest.

There are major drug locations to the immidiate west of the complex.

To the south sucks too, a lot of the same.

The west and south areas around the complex simply put are bad neighborhoods.

To the north, Van Nest, is getting worse and worse as the time passes and to the east is also getting worse more slowly, Westchester Square.

As for crime on the complex grounds, robbery is very common due to all the retail to the south of the complex and promity to the 6 Train.

The design of the grounds/buildings also encourages it.

This is a fact of life.

It's not a guerentee but at night or inside elevators you should use caution.

There is a real risk.

Many of the people in the complex and off are far from the greatest.

There are drug dealers, gang members, and more in and around the complex.

The retail and movie theater attracts everyone including these kinds of people.

Some of these people like to cause trouble, so be careful about what fights you pick.

It isn't uncommon for a simple fight on the street to become a shooting in fact it is too common in the area.

Other common problems are auto related crime, noise, and vandalism of the buildings.

As for maintaince, Parckchester's management keeps the grounds so so.

Roaches and even mice are a problem, these are old buildings, lots of people living in them.

So if you can deal with that, then Parkchester is a so so place to live.

Not the greatest but not the worst either.
