It so happens that my daughter read the previous and only negative review by Joe, a disgruntled tenant, and she was upset.

She had earlier been to the building, had tremendous positive feelings and went back to her room mates and told them how great it was. They then made the trip and saw the apartment as well. They decided to rent the apartment.

In the mean time one of the relatives found the single vicious review and told the three girls.

My daughter told me so I called the owner of the building.

The owner was very forthright and direct and left me feeling as if he was the victim, as I had suspected. Indeed he was.

The disgruntled tenant was so destructive that the owner had no choice but to evict the man. And because the owner is not particularly computer literate never knew of this negative review.

He told me that all of that which was written was untrue and the only thing remotely close was that the boiler needed, first repair, and then a brand new boiler was installed.

The building was built prior to WW II and those were the great years for construction in NYC. The rooms are oversized compared to current construction and the walls are real plaster, something that is now reserved for the large mansions in the Hamptons.

My daughter and her room mates are moving in and I am happy that they are in safe, and healthy environment.

195 Hicks Street is clearly a great place to live.
