I started living here last summer and it wasn't bad since most of the people were gone. I like having my own bathroom, kitchen, and lots of closet space. But I have not met anyone here that isn't insane. I started out with roommates, one of four i knew going in, who were awful. The cops were personally in my apartment 2 nights within a week the first week of school- for assault and hit and run. I moved out, but it took several complaints for anything to happen. Cops are here like everynight for something or another. I don't feel safe walking across the parking lot at night, especially after the sexual assault. I got a parking ticket within the parking lot because the fire lanes are not marked. I have seen several accidents in the parking lot since people speed around narrow corners. I can hear everything that happens in the living room and bass from all the rooms around on a regular basis. Most people don't care about the apartments and spit on floors and break windows and kick holes in walls. I have not been in a building yet where there has not been a hole in a wall someplace. The electric bills do not make sense. One month it was 22 each and we were all here over the month. We were all gone over spring break and the bill for that month was 31. The electric bills got screwed up one month and I was just rounding up anyway, and it took 3 months of prodding to figure out what my account balence actually was to find out how much I owed. I live next to the maintainence room and a water heater' starts up several times a day and is annoying while in the bedroom, but if I am in the shower it is deafening. If your bedroom is next to a staircase, all night you can hear people slam the door at the bottom, stomp up the stairs, and then slam the door to whatever floor they were walking too. Needless to say, if you are a light sleeper you will be waking up several times throughout the night. None of our windows shut properly but when the maintainence people came up they said it wasn't broken. To shut it i have to stand on a chair in front of the window and push all of my body weight on the window while trying to close the lock. Sometimes this is impossible so the window remains open and unlocked. Some of the amenities in the clubhouse are nice, but are often in disrepair as well (ie the movie theater, pool tables). The pool is nice, but closes early in the evening. It is nice having a washer and drying, but it probably would be cheaper just to go to a mat, since the washers and dryers only hold 3 towels so it takes me about 9 loads to do sheets, towels, and 2 weeks of laundry. If I bring my laundry home all of this takes me 3. The only benefit here is the bus, otherwise just live someplace else off campus.
