We knew this wasn't a luxury apartment upon moving in, but at this point I'd rather pay more to not deal with this garbage.

We'll start with management. They won't show you the apartment until you have keys in your hand and signed, because it's still being "cleaned out". They "legally can't" tell you anything about the area as far as crime or problems with other leasers within the complex - so make sure you call Cheektowaga PD before you sign. When we first moved in, they frequented the building next door; I often found cop cars in the parking lot when I came home from work in the dark because people tend to be shady around here. Which is another problem - the parking lots are pitch black at night, which is a real good time when trying to dodge the skunks that frequent because this place is gross.

The maintenance guys are nice - but they're useless. Our first problem, the pipes burst upstairs (more like fell apart because they rig anything that breaks) and flooded our apartment. The first maintenance guy showed up with a wetvac and starts to do our apartment BEFORE the upstairs stops leaking, therefore being utterly useless. After the water stopped flowing, even Stanley Steamer walked away because to clean the carpets would be a waste. Instead of giving up on getting us back in there (with the impending smell and the future mold problem) they try to fan it out to dry it up for four days. We ended up fighting with management, who should have been incredibly apologetic for their folly but instead rude and condescending, for a week to get a new apartment.

The other day, our lighting fixture fell out of the ceiling and was hanging by the wires. This took three days to fix because the first one didn't do anything, and then didn't show up the next day when he said he would. The second guy rigged it again, basically just reattaching it to the drywall it ripped out of in the first place (because the box that it is supposed to be attached to is completely rotted). I refuse to reattach the heavy glass dome - forbid it falls again and takes someone out with it.

And the laundry room. GROSSSS. They are disgusting because nobody takes care of them, they don't work like they should. Don't even try to dry anything- we bought a drying rack instead and it's much less irritating. The people in the building abuse that area, they leave their laundry and detergents on top of the driers for DAYS, and will split one of their washing loads between the two driers even though they see that you have a load washing and will need the drier shortly. And it ALWAYS smells weird in the halls, and like smoke in the entry because there are no non-smoking buildings.

It's not bad for a cheapy first apartment. But we probably won't make it through the lease. I have lived in 5 different places including dorms, and I have not had this many problems collectively through the years as I have had here.
