I don't think it's as bad as some say

I live in Cranberry Estates and I don't have most of the problems that these people are complaining about. PROS: 1) The only children I see in the neighborhood have always had an adult with them. 2) The kitchens are HUGE! 3) The water is pretty clean (although I must mention that I know someone who lived in those Meyer Road apts and her whole apt and outside always smelled like eggs and there was so much sand coming out of the faucet that it clogged her water filter in the kitchen in just 3 days! - so to be clear - I'm talking about Cranberry Estates when I'm taking about the water, here). 3) I must admit that I've been late for the rent a couple of times over the years and they have always been very pleasant at the office about it. 4) I don't have to worry about my safety - it is Clifton Park and I love this area. 5) My neighbors are great! I always wave and they always wave back - made a couple of good friendships while here, too. 6) rent is the lowest in CP. 7) Gotta love the balconies! 8) My neighbors all usually basically park in the same spots and have an unwritten agreement/custom to continue doing so. - Although the guy across the way seems to have no problem parking in a spot that we spent all day shoveling, instead of the half-a__ job that the snow removal team did on his side that was right next to his door! But I guess he's just rude. AND NOW THE CONS: 1) I admit the windows don't fit all that well, but I buy one of those plastic kits every year no matter where I live and they save TONS of money on heating costs! But, the windows are kind of a pain to put the A/C in and out of or the screen for that matter - they don't seem to have a way of getting in or out and you have to practically bend the frame to move them at all. 2) Grass is not watered enough - brown, but in fairness, maybe there is some water shortage or something that I'm not aware of - it has been REALLY hot lately. And lastly... 3) Snow/ice removal in the winter is horrible!!!! During that last storm around tax time - we were calling maint. from 8am until they finally got there around 5:30pm - ALL DAY LONG!!! But we had to be somewhere at 6, so had been shoveling the walkways and around the cars since 2pm, when they hadn't shown up yet! - Lucky we did, too - since we finished up just as they were arriving and had time enough to get where we had to go, just in time. This seems to be the case every time it snows - maybe they should hire a more reliable independent contractor to take care of ice and snow removal -since apparently they have only 2 guys to take care of all of the complexes. I guess they just don't have enough time to shovel out everyone. We actually fell on the walkway out front prior- since no-one had salted it all day - when they came around 6pm (I called them around 10am after we fell trying to leave), they said they must have put too little, because they were here that morning (which of course is BS, because there were no little holes in the ice from salt - just a solid sheet of ice). Oh, and the plow guy comes just as you're finishing around your car so you can move it for them to plow, and he plows you in, if you aren't quick enough (which all the other peoples cars are there, and there isn't any place to move your car to-until the plow guy does his first round - that's if you can even get to your car. We had a shovel from a previous rental (we were responsible for snow removal there), fun thing is that we had just about every neighbor in our are come over and ask to borrow it (which we, of course, gladly agreed - not like they could do anything else). Oh, and be prepared in the winter months to take about 20 minutes to get to the Northway, since it takes a good 10-15 to get out of the apartment complex, since the snow is everywhere. ALL IN ALL: 8 PROS (and probably a few more) and 3 lengthy CONS - the moral of the story: for the winter, buy a shovel, hat, gloves and a scarf, because you WILL need to assist in snow removal, even though you aren't "responsible" for doing so - if you want to leave the apartment, get a shovel and be prepared to use it - and do yourself another favor and buy that window plastic kit that you tape around the windows and use a hair dryer to shrink and you'll be fine.
