STAY AWAY FROM LONDON SQUARE!!

If you value your sanity, stay far away from London Square and any other complex run by the Solomon Apartment Management Company. The apartment we rented was actually a very nice space with decent storage, new carpet, etc. However, the incompetent management and maintenance of the complex made our stay at London Square extremely frustrating. Here are just a few examples:
1) Despite a written contract with London Square stating that our pet deposit was to be paid in installments by the 15th of each month, we received a notice and a late fee every month for SIX months stating that we failed to pay our pet fee by the 1st of the month. Every month, I have to send them a copy of their own contract with my refusal to pay the fee, and still every month they made the same mistake. Late fees for the rent being send out numerous times, this even though we hand delivered our rent to the front office days before it was due.
2) Don't ever expect your maintenance requests to be answered. The office staff must have all had lobotomies at some point because messages are never returned or given to the correct people. If took five calls to the office over a period of four weeks to get someone to fix our broken dryer. Mice in multiple apartments in my building were never addressed by the management. It took them two months before they got around to my downstairs neighbor's broken water heater. Cold showers for two months; sign me up!!
3) The maintenance staff seem to be made up of ex-cons. Very creepy guys who tend to do more leering at the tenants and prodding for personal information than actually working. Expect to have maintenance visit your apartment multiple times before they actually fix a problem. It took three tries by maintenance to fix the above mentioned dryer (they didn't see a problem the first two times with the vent actually blowing into the room, thereby causing the room to be about 200 degrees and full of lint).
4) The complex is concerned with getting new tenants in, and not actually satisfying their current renters. New windows (despite the fact that the windows in our apartment were only a few years old) were installed in DECEMBER 2005, days before Christmas. This process involved ripping out all of the windows in the apartment when it was 10 degrees out and leaving the entire place wide open. Once the windows were actually in place, no one returned to fix the plaster, the sills, and rehang the blinds which were all effectively destroyed by the window hangers. Despite calling the office numerous times and asking them to finish the job, the windows remained in this state until we moved out a few months ago. Street lights on the property that have blown out will remain out for years creating pitch black sections of the complex at night making it fun to navigate though all the mounds of dog crap surrounding the parking lots. Snow removal is quite humorous to watch with brilliant workers laying salt on the snow in the parking areas and then plowing it all up and dumping the mounds of snow behind cars. Sucks for you if you actually plan on going somewhere in the winter when the office is closed (before 8 and after 4ish on weekdays, Sundays, and holidays) because they don't bother to plow at all then.
5) Don't drink the water!! Just boil it and you will see all the rust and sediment in the tap water.
I could go on and on, but I'll just stop here. If you value your sanity, steer clear! Oh, and for those of you already renting, it will take months to get your security deposit back since they screw that up too.
