Oh, how do I hate it let me count the ways
1. Ammenties translation
Pool=4'deep hole in concrete
Sand volleyball=old litter box with droopy net
Library=shelf of books in office
Workout facility=rusty stationary bike in rental office, open from 9 to 5 weekdays
Pool room=pool table in rental office open 9-5 weekdays
Social Parties=grill at pool with hotdogs
2. Maintenance
The first time I called maintenence they were great, responded quickly and fixed the problem. The second time when water came pouring through my smoke alarm, the maintenece man refused to come and I had to go upstairs and enter an apartment of people I didnt know to find out what the problem was. Thank God they didn't kill me.
3. Pet rent
$750 deposit for a pet''' Where is the toddler rent'''
4. Neighbors
I currently have an undetermined number of Pakistani men living in the apartment above me. The Russian mail order bride in the apartment below me locks her small children outside when her and her buyer want to get it on, several -------- in the next building were arrested by the state troopers over Labor Day weekend, and while visiting the pool make sure to say hi to the 90 year old man who has an apartment by himself and poops in front of you in his adult diapers. It would take two hands to count the number of times I have seen flashing lights outside my own apartment building.
5. Noise
The ceilings only look like concrete. They are really paper mache. The other day I hear someone sneeze and said "God bless you" before I realized I was the only one in my apartment.
6. Transfer clause
If by chance you may be tansferred and you would like to be sure you can get out of your lease by getting a transfer clause, make sure you read all the fine print. you must be in the apartment for at least 8 months before you vacate, and you must give 60 days notice from the first of the month. How many people get transferred and have 60 days notice from the first of the month' If you submit your letter on March 8, you have to pay rent for April and May, even if you are moving out in April. Oh, and you forfeit your security deposit.
7. Office Policies
Make sure you get anything said to you about month to month leases, house buying clauses and the like in writing before you move in. Policies have a way of changing depending on how much the office staff likes you.
8. Laundry Facilities
Who thought that 2 washers and dryers were enough for 20 apartments' In addition, the lights are on motion sensor, but as they are right by the steps this is not good. It give a place where attackers can turn off the lights and wait for you to walk by. Plus you have to use a stupid card to activate the washer and dryer. Would have been nice if they had told me before I put all my clothes in and the soap. Oh, and you can only put money on your card 9 to 5 on weekdays.
9. Security
None. No locks on main doors. No deadbolts unless you pay for them yourself or were lucky enough to have one when you moved in.
10. Mail
If you get a package, the mailman leaves it for you in the lobby. The lobby is unsecured and any packages left can and WILL be stolen. And the Postal workers have a really hard time with the directions "Leave any packages at the PO for pickup". Don't expect the rental office to help.
11. Parking
Parking lot is a mess. It was "resurfaced" and now there arent even any lines.
