Upon your first stroll through Parkwood Village you will be struck by the gorgeous, wooded property. The apartment buildings are spaced apart nicely and the square footage is wonderful.
Don't be fooled. From the moment you move in, you will begin to notice things wrong with the apartment. We had a list of complaints immediately (most of which were never addressed). You will pay way too much for way to little. Their maintenance is slow and you're lucky if anything is done right. Sometimes they have to make three or four trips (spread out over a month) to fix things because they'll claim they don't have the right tools or the right equipment. You will wait for something to be fixed for weeks and then suddenly they will show up with no forewarning and just walk in to your apartment (this happened once while I was in bed, sick). Sometimes they will come and leave while you're not home and not even leave you a note that they were there. I only knew that had come because I noticed a fixture had been changed.
The office staff seem nice when you can actually get them on the phone. But don't expect them to ever call you back. You have to call again and again until you actually get someone to answer the phone.
Our neighbors moved out one by one and no one ever moved in to take their place. You'd think maintenance would get better since there are fewer tenants, but no such luck.
They don't rake leaves unless you live in the office, so those beautiful trees you noticed on your first walk around the complex suddenly become more of a pain than they're worth.
Just make sure when you come to look at the complex that you look around the entire property. Walk around the back of the buildings. Look around. Maybe ask a tenant what they think of the complex (if you can find one).
Lastly, don't believe their website. I don't know when was the last time they updated it. Expect to pay at least $100 more per month than it says. And NOTHING is included except cold water (which doesn't work during a power outage). Last summer we had more than one outage for no real reason. We had no power or water which meant we couldn't even flush the toilet. When we called to ask why the power was out they gave us attitude and said that they obviously knew we had no power and they didn't know why or when it would be on again.
