Expensive, but a nice place

The location's good for me, the neighborhood's fairly quiet, and the few maintenance items I've had done have been quick. (Usually same day or next morning.)
Appliances are fairly modern, including an overhead-mounted microwave, a (noisy, not terribly good) dishwasher, and good-size fridge/freezer with icemaker. Disposal is in the sink (a must for me), and washer/dryer hookups are included. Washer is about 2 feet from the gas water heater, which means nice hot water for washing.
Heat works well, but is noisy and runs a lot on the first-floor apartments. Installed plastic sheeting around the windows for the winter, and it's making a huge difference. (The double-paned windows still let a lot of draft around them; the plastic film's a big help.) A/C in the summer doesn't have to run much on the first floor; we stay fairly cool.
Unassigned parking, and seems to be plenty of it, even for visitors. They're doing a REALLY crappy job of snow-removal this year compared to last. (To the point where I'm going to be visiting the office tomorrow to discuss it.)
The complex holds a free brunch on saturday every month or so. Always a nice get-together, and it's fun having the office staff cook for you in the clubhouse!
Noise is so-so. The neighbors to the sides, we can't really hear at all. The neighbor above us makes quite a bit of noise just walking around. He doesn't seem to be doing it intentionally -- just very poor noise insulation in the ceiling/floor. Doesn't bug me much; drives my wife crazy.
The office accepts packages when I'm away. I thought all complexes did this, but my last one in CT didn't, and I had to keep going into town to pick up my packages! (That, or they'd leave expensive stuff just sitting outside; even worse.) It's a big help that the office does this for us, as it's a big job some days.
Their pet policy is abusive, I think. A $500 pet fee, $300 of which is refundable... PLUS $25 "pet rent," per pet, per month. I think that's outrageous, but unfortunately apartments that allow pets AND have W/D hookups are rare in this area for some reason.
Overall I'm happy living here, but it's about $150/month too expensive, particularly when you add the "pet rent" on top of it.
EDIT: I've since moved out to another city. None of my deposit was held back; the move-out was very painless. I already miss the place; my new apartment isn't nearly as nice as this one was.
