I lived here for 1.5 years, and when I finally moved out, they screwed me. The atmosphere of the complex isn't bad .. pretty quiet. The shape of the apartment when I moved in was pretty bad though - cracked walls all along the bottom of every wall, no baseboards. The first week after I moved in, the bedroom flooded. they cleaned it up, but the smell never went away, and when I moved out, i had to throw a lot of stuff out that had been on the floor or in a corner b/c it had grown mold and mildew on it. When I moved out, they claimed that my dog did all of the damage to the walls and took away my $300 deposit, and then made me pay for 6 days in the next month that I wasn't living there so that they would get a 30 day notice, even though I had already fulfilled my lease. I tried to fight it, but they refused to budge or give me any refund. My dog did not do anything to that apartment, the walls are like that in the hallways as well, crumbling and cracked. There were mice running around my apartment for a little while as well, and maintenance would simply give me mouse traps to set around the place. The maintenance staff is pretty good about fixing things, and they're all really nice as well. But there were still problems with the heat every winter - it would always break, but break so that no matter where you had the temp set, it would be 80-82 degrees inside. But the price of the apartment is way overpriced for the quality of the apartment that you're getting. It's old, and falling apart, and they then try to blame the shoddiness of the building on you and take away all of your deposit.
Perhaps the new apartments in the back are nicer, but I can't imagine that it's too great living next to the parking lot of a shopping complex (I know it wasn't fun living next to them building the shopping complex). Also, I had a dog, and there wasn't much choice as to where I could walk my dog since Transit Rd. is really busy and dangerous to walk a dog on.
