Wish we hadn't had to leave!

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2004
My husband and I moved into Woodland Estates shortly after we were married, and we loved it! Our first impression of the community was the staff. They were so friendly and went so far out of their way to accomodate us during our move that we called the management company to compliment them.
The only maintenance issue that we ever had was locking ourselves out of the apartment and that was handled promptly! Maintenance did preventative work routinely, yearly inspections, etc.
We lived very close to the train tracks and after two days we didn't even notice it. People would visit and ask what the noise was and we would have to think. It was never a problem.
Storage was wonderful. There is an outdoor storage room, storage in a closet under the stairs, and a storage room of one of the bedrooms (I used it for an office when I worked from home, it is big. Each bedroom has a closet covering the entire end wall-over 20 feet of closet space besides all the starage rooms. Storage was never an issue.
The grounds were very nicely kept, and setting up your own outdoor area, gardening, even putting in a patio is encouraged. Each unit has a front and back door going outside so you have a lot of outside space. When we moved in the office gave us our choice of which open unit we wanted. We chose an end unit by an open courtyard/playground (#136). It was great, but we were in an area that was so wooded that the grass did not grow well so it was very sandy. Right before we had to move we put down grass seed that started to grow, but I don't know how well it did. The entire place is not like this, so if the outside area is important to you make sure that you get a place that is not in such a wooded area.
We were very nervous when college started and all the St John Fisher kids were moved in. The first night they were all outside walking around, but after that we never saw them. We later found out that they only allow select grad students who meet certain requirement to live there. We never had a problem.
Our only complaint was parking. The parking policy is that 1 car can park by the townhouse and the second should park in the visitor parking area. The only problem was that there was only 10 visitor spots for over 20 apartments so nobody followed that rule. Once college started and all of the townhouses were full you couldn't find a spot if you came home after 7pm. People were forced to park in areas that were not parking spots making it difficult to get in and out. Again this was not a problem in all areas of the complex, check before you move in to make sure that there are enough parking spots for all of the apartments that border that lot. Where we were there wasn't even enough spots for each apartment to have one car, much less the four that some of the St. John students had there!
In all this is a great apartment in a great neighborhood, just be choosy about which apartment you move in to, but this isn't a problem because the office staff is very accomodating about this kind of thing.
