A little too good to be true...

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2008

When my girlfriend and I moved into Knollwood Manor in spring on 2005, we were happy to be in a place that provided so many 'features.' We were intially attracted by the price, free cable, location, and access to Fairport Electric. We have now lived here for close to 3 years, and things have slowly deteriorated. Everything in the apartment is old. The dishwasher overflows on any setting other than low, the toilet stopped flushing and had to be replaced, and the bathroom sink does not drain. Throw in the overall condition of everything in kitchen and the leaks in all of the windows (no storm window, just screens year round) and this place is less than pleasant to live in. Turns out our rent has also been increased every year, starting at $740 and now up to $810 with an additonal boost if we renew.
Obviously, we have been getting tired of dealing with all this nonsense, but lately everything has gotten worse. The older woman who lives across the hall (in a 1 bedroom) now has her teenage grandson living with her. This kid has made living here awful. He consistently smokes in the hallway, chains his rusty bicycle to the outside fire escape right in front of the door, literally loiters outside the building for hours at a time, and plays loud music 24 hours a day. Today I was getting the mail and one of this kids friends pulled open the 'security' door and walked into the lobby of the building. I asked him, "Did you just rip that door open'" He replied, "Ya, its been broken for weeks..."
I am a young professional who works and attends grad school -- do you think I would every invite someone to visit me in this environment' This review is already too long for me to include information about the noise from the upstairs unit and the horrible laudry and storage. Word of advice, don't move here, under any circumstances, if it seems too good to be true it probably is...

We have lived here for almost 20 years and we have never had any trouble with the apartments. When ever anything brakes they are there to fix it with in 24 hours. If something has to be placed depending what it is it's done with in 3 days or less. Some people just look for problems. I find the management is great and the apartments are very comfortable. I would recommend it to anyone.

When my mother died in these apts I was taken to court and sued for her "Breaking the lease" i had already paid one more mont and the ecurity was held so we are taliking about 1 month rent and an electric bell. That was for the lights left on all night after I had moved her things out. I knwo I would drive by it. Angelo Crego owned at the time and was a %&& @@@##. Don't die when you live there!
