One Year at Whitney Ridge

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007
I moved in to Whitney Ridge in August of 2006, and I am moving out at the end of August 2007. First, let it be known that if I wasn't changing jobs across town, I would be staying here in a heart beat. I have, for the most part, enjoyed my stay here at Whitney Ridge. I have rented a one bedroom apartment the entire time.
The positives: My rent is reasonable ($725, but it is going up some), and it includes almost all the utilities, and that's hard to find. Heat, water, AND standard cable are covered which make living here a sweet deal. Having Fairport Electric for my air conditioning and electric needs is a huge bonus - the costs are cheap and I've never had a billing issue with this company. I will miss this aspect of Whitney Ridge living when I move to my new place, which, sadly, has RG&E for their utilities. My apartment has reasonable space for everything I own, and then some. I also like the second sink in my bedroom so I can get ready for bed and then easily get in my bed and ready to sleep for the night. The office and maintanence crew are generally pretty quick about things, and fix it right the first time. I only had one or two issues that things weren't taken care of quickly in the year I was here. The pool is also kept very well, so be sure to use it!
The negatives: The countering in the standard apartments is rather out dated and ugly. Also, be sure to be specific with the people when they're showing you the model - they usually show the "contemporary" one, and that is not what I had for an apartment. Oh well, I got over it. The one bedroom apartments are located on the bottom floor and have a TERRIBLE problem with bugs and spiders. Make sure to buy something to spray on the outside of your apartment for this, and be sure to call the office if it gets bad and make them come and spray. I had to call a few times to get this done, and it took me asking them if I should show them the bag of dead bugs I collected just for them for them to send someone over to spray my area. The other thing that bothered me is that my storage area was disgusting - it looked like someone threw up all over it, and I refused to use it. You don't pay for that, so don't worry, I just never used it because of this, and they never cleaned it either. Laundry is expensive; I also had an issue with my idiot neighbors above me - but I got that taken care of with enough complaints to the office.
Overall, I enjoyed my time here, and I wish I could stay longer, but my job change won't allow me that luxury. I will miss having the nicely mown lawns, and snow-free walk ways and parking lots, and I hope my new place can keep this up.
