Well it's the end of the day and over the past 2 weeks, we stopped by once, made 7 phone calls--and gotten no return phone calls. They promised we'd have a check last Tuesday and then this Tuesday, so now it's Wednesday and ---no check. They are closed on Thursday and Friday. We left our apt completely empty, cleaned, and even filled picture holes --which were tiny anyway.

When were in the rental office there was someone else waiting to talk about getting their security deposit back. It's not looking good.

On their lease agreement they had in large all cap type that UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ARE YOU ALLOWED TO USE SECURITY AS LAST MONTHS RENT. I wanted to because Jack Parker died not long ago, and the staff said over and over that things are changing because the new owners are greedy bad people. But if they are bad people they can take revenge and attach your credit report for non payment I've been told, so I complied and didn't use my security for my last months check.

As of 5-1-07 I said:
They said 3 weeks ago that a check was written now they don't return our calls. If you're reading this and thinking about renting, All that is said in the other posts is the same as our experience. Paper thin walls and floors!very good nice doorman, convenient location, weird smells because there's always construction, Sometimes can smell when oil is delivered, faint faint but nonetheless discernible garbage odor on Sundays in the summer. It really is the luck of the draw with neighbors and noise. The best apts are at the end of the breezeway hallways. Don't live in the inner areas. You hear every stairwell and the doors slam at all hours in addition to hearing all the goings on of your neighbors, their toilets, alarm clocks--my upstairs neighbor would slam his at 5:27 AM 6 days a week.
We are hopeful still because it's been exactly 2 months, they've taken their 60 days to hold our security hostage, teh bad part is we're getting the run around from management office that said they would call back but didn't........Yikes.
The irony is that in their leases they have in bold letters that you can't use security as last months rent. I enjoyed the sunny high floor we were on, but we moved because neighbor noise was unbearable I can't get into the laundry list of noises I'd be here all night-don't be desceived by the carpets. I'm reluctantly checking no on the recommended box, but the safety factor was very important. I felt very safe there that's huge for me, just don't expect to get a lot of sleep, except on holidays when people are out of town.
