I'm going to be completely honest...I'll start with the pros:
1. Extremely convenient location; express subway & LIRR is 3 blocks away, grocery and pharmacy is literally across the street, austin st., you can live here and not really need a car for anything.
2. 24 hour doorman, although you may catch them snoozing here and there...its always better that someone is there than nobody. Also you dont have to worry about deliveries ever!
3. The most spacious apartments this side of the mississippi. Seriously, so many closets, nice big rooms, and great views (i have a city view but varies based on apts.)
Now for the cons:
1. Elevators - in my 20 years, i have noticed that the elevators are slower now than they were before. They put up fancy lights and some formica on the walls and believed that it would satisfy tenants, in fact it made the area inside the elevator smaller, we came to know when trying to throw out a sofa that fit when moving in but they had to slice it in half to get it out. something most people dont know...back in the days you were able to see which floor each elevator was on from every floor now you can only tell from the basement or lobby. a double downgrade...to top it off i have been stuck waiting for an elevator when 3 out of 4 were out of service on many weekends.
2. The doors and walls are painted "---- brown", i have absolutely no clue why anyone would pick this color. I bet you they got a crazy deal on the world's ugliest color.
3. Every porter, repairman, handyman, is a latino fellow who has no idea what to do. My dining room shares a common wall with the shower and every 8-9 months they come back to fix the chipping paint. I'm almost positive there is a more permanent solution to this. The supers are crooked, you have to bribe them to get any work done, i know that they installed a jacuzzi in some guys apt. and 6 months later had to shut down the water line because they place is not built for one...but the super got his $$.
4. Management has serious issues against us. We have received letters from management to remove religious decorations from our main door. Why' who knows, but this person on my floor is allowed to have a 15 inch antichrist star that is still there.
5. Overpriced, due to my 20 year occupation we have a reasonable deal on rent. But most people moving in nowadays are paying serious amounts of $$...for instance my cousin had a one bedroom w/no balcony for $1900/month. Oh yea, plus electric now! It used to be included in the rent but not anymore! Dont forget about parking at $275/month extra. This is Forest Hills, not Manhattan!
Now to answer your question, why am i still here if it sucks. I'm actually looking to move out and get a condo, but i cant seem to find one with a similar size and at the right price...but i have a feeling some options may be opening up soon.

Its the worst place to live. I do not recommend staying here. Poor management and customer service.
