Horrible management

I lived at this complex with my fiance for over two years. The units are old - our air conditioners were from the 70s and cost us a fortune in LIPA in the summertime. Everything is very outdated in these units. THe balcony was nice (we had a second floor unit with balcony). We decided to get two dogs - the maximum number they allow - and the fee each month is $50 PER DOG. The size of the units is fine (we had the deluxe one bedroom) and the closets are ample. Parking was adequate. The worst thing about this complex was the fact that the management and maintenance people are completely and utterly obnoxious. The main maintenance guy/super, Paul, is extremely rude and would follow me around while I walked my dogs (or drive behind me in his truck) to make sure they wouldn't urinate on the grass near the parking lots. He did this because he once saw me let my dogs go near the parking lot and sped over in his truck, pulled up onto the curb and got out and yelled at me because the dogs were "killing the grass". Meanwhile there was dead grass all over the complex - not to mention dog poop from people who wouldn't pick up - but he chose to harass me about where I let me two 20 lb. dogs pee. After speaking to many residents there, I was advised that Paul does not like women, and he feels compelled to talk down to and chastise the women he encounters on his rounds driving his truck around the complex. Sure enough, when Paul would see my fiance walk the dogs, he was always polite and courteous. The woman who works at the main office - Mary - is also extremely rude. When I complained to her about the issues I and other women were having with Paul, she became very defensive and angry. Just absolutely horrible customer service overall. When we moved out, they charged us for furniture that they state we left by the dumpster, which we did not. I wrote a corporate complaint letter about the fact that they charged us for this and also about Paul's treatment of myself and other women there. I would never rent from another Heatherwood Community after the experiences I had at Hillcrest.
