Not the best place to rent...

Where do I begin.....
At first I thought this was a nice complex, with nice grounds, but the only one bedroom apartments are in the basement, or as they call it, "garden view" after a year it got real depressing looking out the window and seeing nothing but grass and people's feet walk acrosss the yard.
The paint they use is absolutely disgusting, it is sooo cheap I hated having to rest my hands on the wall, it felt like a brown paper bag. The ceilings look terrible, you can manage to see where they've covered various things such as airducts et al. Plus you hear every single step a person takes above you, and that can be very annoying...
There is a lot of mold and mildew, and I developed a severe rash and reaction to it where my doctor had to prescibe Allegra to stop the constant itching, and above all was my impetus behind the move.
All the while the apartment manager, Karen Witter, would talk this sweet dance around you saying that there is no mold or mildew anywhere, and you just have alergies....yeah like I'd believe her over my doctor. Not to mention the fact that my basement apartment was flooded more than once. Plus the tenants upstairs have leaked water onto my bathroom floor on more than one occasion.
Then there is the yearly excuse to raise your rent every year no matter what. My first year, they blamed energy costs. Second year it was the water consumption so they made us responsible for our own water, and yet they still raised the rent. No only that, but they installed a 72 degree heating limit on our thermostats since they are responsible for heat.
Parking is always crowded and never enforced. The cleaning crew says they come every week to clean the public areas, but I've seen our apartment complex window door stained with the same smudge for the past three months.
Bottom line is that Harborside Manor, a wholly owned subsidiary of Home Properties, does not care about their tenants, they only care about the bottom-line and their shareholders.
