Please read the entire review, there are certain pluses that should be noted.
Lived in Pinecrest from 06-09. Lived in a basement apartment, 3b/2b.
Start with the good stuff. Lots of parking. A nice pool, tennis courts, and a huge park right next door. It is literally right behind a Wegmans. It is also at the start of a large neighborhood so it is safe and quiet. As long as you move your car they keep up with plowing for the most part. The size is decent and there are washer dryer rooms in each building.
Staff was very nice upon entry, but shortly after any problem was more of a hassle for them and they were normally very short, unaccomodating and seemed genuinely irritated by our concerns or needs; and we're definately not needy tenants.
Apt building is very cheap. Ours looked like it hadn't been updated since the early 80's. Our appliances were poor quality. Our countertops were made of different material on either side of the kitchen, the drywall on the outside of our kitchen buldged, and our overhead light would randomly go on and off even after being looked at multiple times. Cabinets were cheap and drawers were plastic and often wouldn't slide correctly and get hung up. Carpets were cheap and cut incorrectly and where there wasn't carpet there was linoleum that often was cut incorrectly to size. Bathroom was un-updated and mismatched. Vent was poor and didn't dry the bathroom out enough to avoid mold. Constantly blew lightbulbs in vanity even with correct bulbs and energy savers, so I believe there might be a current problem' Drywall in bathroom got soaked behind the shower tiles and when cleaning I pushed a hole in the wall. All the dry wall was soaked up the wall and the piping was all rusted out. They just patched in a new piece and retiled in the hole rather than fixing the larger problem of water in the wall. All the window sills were wood and the stain flaked and cracked away leaving bare wood. None of the window frames were set in the window space flush and easily let in bugs since we were in the basement. Never experienced a problem with flooding, but after one notabily heavy rain we heard every other basement apt in the building flooded except ours. We often got millipedes through the shower drains. Overall the fixes and construction were cheap and it seemed they want to get the job done at the least as possible cost rather than spending a little more to get more return and make it nice, you know, investing in their property. A good term to describe it is run down and tired.
So, if you are young and looking for any place to live, not necessarily looking to stay very clean, and can deal with a few inconveniences its not bad. If you're looking for a nice place that is modern, clean and classy...not the place for you.
