My boyfriend and I have been living in the Tall Oaks (Barclay) Apartments for over 2 years. The people are generally friendly and the matience staff is great. The rent increases do suck , but the reality is that rent is going up all over Long Island. The airconditioners are old, but they brought us a brand new refrigerator when our old one died. We did buy window fans to use when we wanted to avoid using the airconditioners.The rent prices are affordable for those of us who are just starting out and don't make a lot of money. The only downside is that the apartment is old (built in the early 80's I think) so the floors sqeak and you can hear the neighbors below if they blast their music or surrond sound. But it is a good place to start out. We moved here when we were 28 and are able to save up to move to a condo because our rent is affordable. Oh yeah, since we didn't have great credit, we had to pay three months rent up front. But we were given the extra third month back after living here for a year and paying on time. Parking is plentiful and the neighborhood is very quiet.
