It's Apartment Living-Period

OK. It's not Nirvana. It's not terrible either. I lived there for almost 6 years and stayed for 5 years because it was not all that bad, and I happen to be paying below market value for rent.

I never had a problem with management. I was never late paying rent, caused any trouble, and got along well with my neighbors.

However, the final year of living there was the motivating factor for moving out and buying my own place.

Forget about the drugs, vandalism, and loitering. The management team, in my opinion, did not handle serious maintenance issues until you made a complaint to the corporate office. Things like having no hot water in the mornings or evenings sporadically for over a month. Major plumbing issues (loud knocking water pipes that almost sounded like a machine gun going off), heat that would NOT turn off. A property manager that says to you "I didn't know about that" is an insult. Having 3 maintenance guys to handle appx 500 apartments is ludicrous. When a major maintenance problem develops, management is slow to respond, or tries to lessen the severity of the problem.

I lived in a building that was close to everything. For the most part, from Sept. through May, it was quiet. The summer months were loud.

I am not a parent. One thing that the kids at the Gardens did not understand is to respect other people's property. I HAD a new car, and while it was nothing special, it was nice looking, and I tried to keep it that way because I take care of my things. After 3 years, my car there was scratched and dinged up by children's bikes, balls or it being used as a lounge chair. Ask them to get off politely, and they looked at you like you had some nerve. If I had told my parents to F*&# off like these kids do to adults, I would have been slapped silly. Kids will be kids, OK. But the total lack of respect for adults and property were overwhelming. Respect is learned at home! Then again, yes, that's apartment community living.

So, I moved because of these things. Maintenance is super for what they have to work with. If you are nice to them, they will treat you with respect in return. Management is on par with any apartment complex, not bad, but not great either. Sometimes when you need to deal with them, they'll make you feel like an idiot.

I simply grew irritated by apartment living. The irritation was sweetened with the lack of care or concern by management on major maintenance issues. This can be a nice place to live at times. Compared to other apartment communities, it's better than average. It depends on where in the Gardens/Ridge/Park you live. Just be carefull. Qlkxv6lfLuuXn3BrtpO7

Management is still slow responding and down playing major maintenance issues. Boiler broke down in my building and no Heat for 5 Days 3/8/07 thru 3/13/07 which included below norm temperatures of 1-8 degrees below on at least two of the days, given one electric heater which ran up my O&R elec bill. Boiler has been fixed and now all you hear is running water through the pipes at all hours of the day and night when you turn on your thermostat. This is a nice place to live...need a new management team. I've begun my search to become a homeowner.
