I must say, people keep complaining about the parking and how people's cars are being towed. I would like to point out the other side of the argument... The circle clearly states "fire zone no parking" I, for one, am glad to know that there is a place for firetrucks to park, as this is a big building and it needs somewhere for the firetrucks to be. If you park illegally, then you will be towed, end of story. You don't want to know what the fire department will do to your car if you park in the circle and they need to be there! You'll be happy with being towed. Also, the parking on the first level seems to be metered parking, like anywhere else with metered parking, you have to pay. Maybe some people have had problems, but could it be that they parked illegally' I was stuck getting out because someone had parked illegally, and I was on my way to help a friend who was in labor! Seriously, don't park where you are not meant to park, it's as simple as that.

Also, people keep complaining about the elevators, I have been here nearly 6 months, and go out several times a day, I've only seen one elevator down for any amount of time (like two days), the elevators are really not an issue. Maybe during rush hour, they might be slow, but that is to be expected.

With the heating, there were plenty of signs posted that they had to turn off the gas heating for a couple of days. However, this was before it got cold. It was snowing yesterday, and we still haven't needed to turn on our heaters. These apartments are very cozy without the heaters, and the air system was great when it was hot. I've been very comfortable. As far as the noise with the heaters goes, it's only happened a couple of times, and is barely noticeable. We have steam heat in this building, and that is the nature of steam heat, as the song goes, "the radiator's hissing"...

Noise: none! I sometimes hear people in the hall, but that is it; I've never heard my neighbors, nor have they heard me. (good thing, as my next door neighbor is a good friend- whom I met here in the building).

One person mentioned that he was outside smoking and smelled gas, yes, that day there was a smell, that is why they had ConEd out. I'd just like to say though, smoking on common grounds is prohibited, it says so in our contracts. This is the only complaint about the apartment that I have... some of our neighbors decide it's OK to smoke in the prohibited areas (which happens everywhere, and really gets on my nerves, they have no smoking bans for a reason- like protecting others health). And hello, don't smoke where you can smell gas, not a good idea.

Construction: I've never noticed any- unless people are talking about when they were working on Division and Memorial highways- well, that is road works, can't do much about that!! (and I never noticed until I was outside)

College dorm''' Yes, there are some young people here, there are also some elderly and families, and everyone in between. We live near several colleges, there are going to be some students here. The students have never bothered me, in fact, they are very friendly. I really do not know why people are picking on them!

All and all, I hope that people looking to move here will make an educated decision. It is a very nice apartment building, a lovely community and the apartments are beautiful, new and fresh. It's a great place to live. We are moving due to a job relocation and it is so hard to find an apartment in our new city. Every apartment we've found has gotten nasty reviews, (as has the Avalon); surely they are not all that bad! I think one thing we have to remember is that usually when people are satisfied they do not post reviews on sites like this. Remember, there are probably 500 people living here, and very few reviews. I guess people only post when they are angry about something. Sad, very sad!

I urge anyone who wants to seriously move into Avalon on the Sound East to stand in front of the building one day. Ask 10 people who come out how they like Avalon. Ask them anything you want. I think you will find that most of them are not happy with Avalon. Do your on investigating, don't trust what is on this site. Go and ask people. No hard in that, and you will save yourself a lot of trouble.
