We rented a new apartment in Avalon on the Sound East from March 2008 until Jan 2009.
I must say we were exceptionally satisfied. The apartments are small, but they are
very well laid out with almost no wasted space (compare with the 20% for a long
corridor in my old Manhattan apartment). Our 3 BR apt was entirely adequate for my
wife and myself, a baby, and a study. There is a washer-dryer in each unit, and ours
also came with 2 bathrooms. Parking is close-by, covered and easily accessible.
Maintenance is responded to almost immediately, and can be requested via an online form. The apartment was also very quiet, with almost no noise from neighbors etc. There is a great view of the Avalon sound, and you can go to the topmost floor at the top of the Roc and see the entire Manhattan skyline. We had a great initial leasing
experience with Mr. Frankochot (now working at Avalon on the Sound). And our
security deposit was returned promptly upon move-out... they said they were going to
charge $500 for painting in the move-out inspection (entirely justified) and that's
what they did. They even gave us some interest on the security deposit. There are
minor inconveniences, in that some of the leasing office staff are not particularly
helpful (esp the new manager Chantal), and the elevators are sometimes out, but
overall, we had a really great experience there. Definitely much recommended.

Ok so i don't know if you were actually living at Avalon on the sound east because the only person that does there job here correctly is Chantal. If it wasn't for her i would have had no faith in ever renting an apartment again. As far as the rest of your statements i i agree on a few. Elevators are always broke and this place has turned to be more like a college dorm. One last note Chantal keep up the great work.
