Living in the Avalon has been a complete nightmare, please take my advice and do NOT live here. You will regret it and please let me tell you why.

1. You receive an electric/water bill from Ista and these bills are ridiculous! I work full time and on the weekends I am usually not around. Somehow for one person my water/electric is $200 a month!! There is nothing that you can do to dispute this either. You have no choice but to pay because no one from the Avalon will explain anything. Everything about this place is a scam.

2. I recently paid my September and October rent a few weeks early. When I woke up on Saturday morning I had court notice saying that I have not paid my rent and that I am due in court in a few days. I am beside myself because the rent was paid in plenty of time so that I would not be late and I was paying two months at once. I am now forced to pay $600 in legal fees - and for what'!'! Paying my rent early...that they claim to have never received. I truly believe that the Avalon is so desperate for cash right now that they have to pull these scams so that they can collect money. I heard about this happening to someone else a few weeks ago and he had to pay $1000 in legal fees to the Avalon even though the court agreed with him that he did pay his rent. I will write another review after this insane court date.

I could go on and on. VERY RUDE STAFF(THE WOMEN IN THE LEASING OFFICE), BANGING PIPES, FREQUENT FREEZING SHOWERS DUE TO NO HOT WATER, TWO OF MY PACKAGES HAVE BEEN GIVEN TO THE WRONG APT. OWNER, AND THROW UP IN THE ELEVEVATORS.

I have tried to break my lease but unfortunately it will cost me two months rent(which is roughly $4000) so I have to wait it out and live in this scamming hell hole. Please do not make the same mistake that I did.

Wow, I moved out of the avalon about 6 months ago,and it was the best thing I've ever done! It sounds like everything is the same as when I lived there. I agree with the reviewer. Never ever move here!

Can anyone recommend an apt complex to consider other than Avalon in the New Rochelle area? As long as I can get to NYC within 30 - 40 minutes, that would be great.

I totally feel your pain.. I am a current resident and I can't wait to get out of here. The staff is no help at all, there are fire trucks at the apartments twice a week, the heat always bangs and makes strange noises, there are college kids everywhere. Nice to know that spending the money on what they call a "luxury" building is nothing more than a glorified dorm! Know that you are not alone.. there are so many people in this building that I have come into contact with who are so disappointed since they moved into the building. Warning to those who are reading the reviews - these are true...find some place else to spend your money because it would be a waste and disappointment if you resided here.
