I love living hear, though I wish I had a view of the water (gave it up to get a bigger studio). My studio is >800 sf, large enuf to be called a one-bedrm, but doesn't have a window in the "bedrm"...which I'm told legally in NYC must be called a studio.
The apt only came with one gym membership, but they offerred us the option of purchasing another membership (depends on the size of your studio).
Love the convenience of having a washer and dryer in the apt (available only in larger studios), but they're on the small side, requiring more washes. But then again, heat and hot water are included. My electric bill has never been over $16.00 which is gret in the Winter.
The management office that leased this apt to all the initial tenants no longer work here. (Did they get fired') They were from Halstead, I think. They were fantastic. The leftover or remaining team is not as on the ball, professional, friendly or efficient as the last crew. That's a disappointment.
Supermarkets- The downtown area seems to be busting with new construction, but b/c this is still the financial district, there are limited options. There's a grocery store 24hr/d a block away, and two supermarkets, Jubilee and Zeytuna about an 8 min walk away. None are cheap. There's also a Pathmark under the brooklyn bridge, but you need a car.
Parking I have a car and parking is atrocious. Monthly fees are about $400, and the only legal parking (daytime wise) in the area, is right in front of the building (hopefully they'll never put up a sign there.) My car was new and is now splattered with dings...I'm pissed about that.
Dogs Lots of small dogs. They don't bother me, but they might if my next door neighbor had one.
Noise My apt is very quiet, the fellow tenants are respectful, and the ages range from about early 20's to early 40's.
Shelf space lot of space in the kitchen, bathroom and in my walk-in closet.
Internet Free wi-fi downstairs
Transportation Close to the JMZ, 2/3, 4/5/6 (in that order. 4/5/6/ takes about 8 min to walk)
Complaints When we first signed on, they offerred a $1000 concession (since I didn't come with an agent. B/c I changed the apt I was moving into, I thought they should honor that concession. They didn't. The guy in charge, Steve somethingorother is kind of a jerk. Also, the "lounge" on the roofdesk shouldn't be called a lounge. There is no view and about 7 areas to sit (for a building of several hundred people its a bit ridiculous). The 2nd fl lounge is STILL NOT DONE.....and it's been almost a year.
