To start with an anecdote- I once stepped in dog poop in the lobby of my own building. At least once a week there are puddles of dog urine in the elevator or in the lobby. Why can't the management get people to control their dogs' Why should I have to live in filth'
I agree with another poster that I think that management is writing at least some of the positive reviews. Yes, the staff is great-- no complaints about the doormen or the workmen. HOWEVER- I feel like I am being robbed every month when the rent comes. Heat/AC is not included, and in the winter our heating/electric bill was FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS. When we complained to the leasing office, they basically told us to suck it up. We have a corner apt. with a lot of windows, and in addition to letting in noise, they let in the cold. And they raised our rent when we re-signed the lease (my husband is out of work right now, so we can't get another apartment-- no pay stubs to show. We are now paying our enormous rent with my income and his savings). Whenever I speak with the Leasing Office, I feel like I am being lied to and swindled. The roof deck is TERRIBLE. Shockingly small, shabby, and VIEWLESS. I almost cried when I saw it for the first time. When I say no view, I mean it. There are giant metal walls! NO windows! ARG! I have friends who came to see an apt. here yesterday, and when they asked to see the much-hyped roof, the agent said it was closed. What a bunch of liars! They didn't want to show it to them because it is CRAPPY. I'm glad I was able to tell them to definitely NOT move in. The appliances in our apt. are cheap and break frequently, and the shower nozzle has almost fallen out of the wall. In addition, the appliances are not energy efficient, so they help contribute to high electric bills. Overall, move into 2 Gold, or another building in the area. DO NOT MOVE INTO 10 Hanover Square!
