while the bldg and the units appear shiny at a glance, once you've lived in it, you'll quickly realize that the place is not as luxurious as one would like to think.
i can hear people talking and walking in the hallway like my front door is wide open. i can hear my neighbors talking on the cell and putting away the dishes. it drives me nuts. having said that, i guarantee my neighbors can hear me on my cell or watching tv. the walls are paper thin. it's not that my neighbors are cranking their stereo and screaming all night long. the walls are simply that thin. i've read different posts on how some of the tenants simply like to complain for the sake of it. my unit is H. i've met others on the opposite side of the bldg who don't have complaints about the noise level. so i guess it's just louder in certain units. from unit H, i can hear my neighbors when they're talking at a normal level.
the lounge and the rooftop deck were behind schedule by months. the rooftop deck comes complete with prison sized walls. there is no view. regardless i did make a use of it over the summer but seating was always limited.
the appliances are modern and top-of-the-line as far as rentals go. the finishes are really nice too. the bathroom is modern and immaculate. however, the contractors slapped everything together, which seems to be the trend in the newer financial district rentals so i can't really fault the bldg for that. the W/D was months late but it's the nicest i've used.
the gym is very nice and membership was free when i signed the lease, which came in handy when i had to shower there when the water quit running. the doormen are great and extremely helpful but the mgt really needs to get their act together.
my rent hike is $145 if i choose to stay, which i feel is competitive and fair, though most tenants probably could haggle it down. i really wanted this place to work out. i really wanted to like this place, but in the end the cons outweigh the pros. my lease runs out at the end of november and i cannot wait. i'll miss the doormen. and the W/D.
