There are some upsides to living at 10 Hanover, but our frustrations in dealing with the management have overshadowed our overall living experience. The luxurious, high-end, and professional image is just a pretense- underneath this exterior is an extremely incompetent, dishonest, and unprofessional management system.
The positive things about the building that stand out are the very friendly and helpful door staff, the dog friendly environment, and the state of the art lounge with pool tables, TVs, kitchens, etc.
However, the management is simply AWFUL. While I understand that no building is perfect, especially a building that is still in the middle of construction, when my roommate and I brought issues to the attention of the management, they were rude, did not provide any information, or most often- lied to us.
Since we moved in, our electricity bills have been unreasonably high- $200-300/month, and when we spoke to management about this, their response was that this was normal and it was probably because we were using our dish washer and washer/dryer a lot. We live in one of the smallest units in the building, have NO washer/dryer, and have NEVER turned our dish washer on. If our bill is normal, it seems ridiculous to me to think that somebody in a 2 bedroom apartment is paying close to $1000 in electricity bills per month. I also happened to notice a comment on this board by a tenant who said that her electricity bill every month is great- she lives in a studio and uses her dish washer and washer dryer, but pays under $16 in electricity every month. Either some of us are being screwed, or all of us in the building are, but just not consistently.
My roommate and I also prepaid our rent, and since we signed our lease, random and arbitrary amounts have been deducted from our balance every month. Our statements include no explanation of what these amounts are for. When we spoke to management about this, they were dismissive and gave us vague answers, which according to our calculations, did not match up. On numerous occasions, we asked for further documentation and breakdowns of our bills, to which they respond that they would send them to us. After never receiving these requests, we called them and reminded them of the times we spoke, to which they responded that we had never been to the office or called them.
Please do not move into 10 Hanover. There are other places in NY where you can find the same atmosphere and similar amenities for the same amount of money (or even less). If you move into 10 Hanover, you'll end up paying a sizeable chunk of money and probably swindled for more while they smugly dismiss you.

There is something seriously wrong with your electric bill numbers. We (me girlfriend) live in a studio/alcove here, use the dishwasher regularly, leave my pc on all the time, the tv is usually on when we am home and we are actually home quite a bit. Our monthly electric bill is generally around $60. It gets a little higher in the winter with heat and summer with a/c, but we don't really use the heat that much.
Look on consumerist . com for an article about disputing your utility bill. I can't post the direct link here for some reason.

Indeed there is something wrong with your bill. I have a studio and use all my appliances and various electronics regularly and I'm only being charged about $75/mo. There is no reason you should have a $200-$300 bill. That makes no sense.
