everyone living here are either (1) rude young slobs or (2) considerate young professionals. it's a toss-up as to who you end up encountering. altho the rudest people i've encountered seem to be the women with the dogs or mothers and mothers to be which is kind of unfortunate. i came from a park ave condo to live here when it first opened (apr 05) to shorten my commute and i still don't regret it - not having to commute is worth it. if you don't really use the common spaces and just have a nice floor to ceiling windows apartment with relatively normal/respectful/quiet neighbors, you should be fine. there are definitely people who act out of line, but you can always call the staff on them, and they generally get the job done.

one good thing about rockrose is if anything is broken in the apartment, you can fill out a maint request rather easily and get it fixed or replaced. but the building itself as well as the appliances are cheaply made. the walls are thin; the appliances we were shown in the model apt were all whirlpool, but the ones we got were electrolux. the oven sets off the fire alarm every time which gets annoying. but when the tub drain clogs up monthly, maint always comes & fixes it. the amenities like dry cleaning & front desk signing for packages and furniture delivery is awesome. if the laundry machines eat your $ and refuse to work, you can call/email hercules and they will send you a refund check. the in-house parking is a great feature too.

there is seasonal construction noise as there is in any part of manhattan. if you are a light sleeper you'll have to either deal with it or move out of manhattan.

and you cannot beat the rent-stabilized leases/renewals. you will never be surprised by the rent increases - which is a nice thing to know.

Very balanced summary, and I completely agree. I've lived here two years since it opened, and I have to say I haven't seen anywhere better in the city where I would rather live. There are little gripes, but to be honest that would be the case in any building. On my floor we don't have any troublesome neighbours this year (about half the apartments seem to turn over with each university year) so everything is peachy!
