Living At The Gold Mine

I lived at 33 Gold Street for 5 years, 1999 - 2004. The apartments are amazing, but be ready to move in 3-5 years. The management likes to increase rent significantly (5%-15%) with each renewal. This keeps the building young, because tenants just out of college will not complain about broken elevators or water issues. The building was not built for residential use. 33 Gold was converted to rez in the late 1970's. As a result of its industrial design, ventilation in the apartments can be problematic. If you fry fish in a 33 Gold apartment, you will enjoy the smell for weeks to come. The building attracts college students living 2-3 to an apartment and young professionals, with the occassional meth dealer thrown in for flavor. I enjoyed my time there. I'll be back to buy when Thurcon decides to sell the building to condo developers, which they did with most of their other properties.
