Taking security deposits for minor scraps on countertops!!!

BEWARE of this landlord! I lived in the building for 6 years and when I moved out they hit me for $1000 to replace the Plywood white Formica counter-tops that had three or four marks smaller than a nail clipping from your little finger. Ive heard that they have hit others too for $1600-$1700 for the same thing. The size of the counter-top is 10sq ft so we're talking over a $100/ sq ft here, which is OUTRAGEOUS!!!!! If you've been screwed by them please post so others know about it.
