i lived in this complex for about a year back in 2003-2004.

i can't even begin to describe the problems i had.

first, the slumlord who runs the place conned me into an 18-month lease, as he could see that this was my first apartment in the city and i had no idea what the procedures were.

then, he refused to show me the actual unit i'd be renting saying that the tenant was probably still there and he didn't want to disturb him.

so he shows me another unit, neglecting to tell me that there are two different sizes for studio apartments in that place.

not that their studios are real studios anyway - more like a closet with a "kitchenette" that doesn't even work.

so when i came back a few weeks later to pick up the keys, i found that he'd stuck me in a teeny tiny studio apartment that didn't even have a closet.

when i demanded me move me into another unit, he grumbled and said i'd have to wait another month for one to become available.

once i finally moved, into yet another teeny tiny, insanely overpriced studio in another building, the bugs and rodents started coming out.

my apartment window faced out to the garbage dump, and the mice were everywhere! i killed three in a matter of two days.

when i told management about it, they just shrugged and said "this is new york." eventually, they got some guy to come and caulk up the holes, but i saw one or two after that anyway.

i couldn't wait to get out there.

don't listen to all their shpeel about how they're so in-demand, because of the free gym and laundry, because somebody will always be on the two treadmills that will be working and the three machines downstairs will always be full.

the neighborhood is shady, nothing is close by, management sucks.

it's an unbelievable rip-off - go elsewhere.
